A friends dd has taken a shine to a little boy at pre school. When her dad asked her what's so special about this little boy friends dd told her dad that this little boy was sooooooooo sexy. My initial reaction was a little laugh then followed by total shock. THis little girl is only just 3 and already saying things like that. I'd be very worried if my dd came home and said that at 3. Am I being a nieve old fashined mummy???

DD (3.5y) and has a boyf-they have made wedding plans and everything! As to what she likes about him-he has glasses like her and knows a lot about dinosaurs. TBH I'd be horrified if she said he was "sexy" though.

codswallop · 22/09/2004 12:36

theres a thread on this

NomDePlume · 22/09/2004 12:45

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww @ your DD marialuisa . TBH 'knowing a lot of dinosaurs' is my first tick box on the 'sexy man checklist' .

Woody, I'd also be a bit taken aback if my DD said that at 3. Most inappropriate, but then she could have heard it from an older sibling etc. I know that my 2yr 1m DD repeats things she has heard her older brothers saying.

codswallop · 22/09/2004 12:46

we never worked out where ds2 had " sexy boy" from

Marina · 22/09/2004 12:52

I'd be concerned about this too, but as others have said, she could have heard this word used about holidays, music, shoes or political policies, and just thinks it means "nice".
Ds, five, is still carrying a major torch for a little girl friend who left his school in June. We keep finding drawings of robots romantically dedicated to her in his shorts pockets...but he's never used "sexy" about her.
What did the little girl's parents think Woodpops?

marialuisa · 22/09/2004 12:52

Got a bit heated last time, didn't it?

Agree with NdP that this little girl might be copying. still wouldn't like it if DD used it though. And DD has a colourful vocab at times-all acquired at home

Re other thread: I'm amazed at the people who thought it was no big deal - of course it'll be innocent copying to start with, but it's utterly inappropriate, and if it were my little child I would want to find some way of ridding them of the word.

I'm just wondering how I would do that. The worst I've had to deal with (other than bum etc.) is "whatever" said in a lazy semi-rude voice, and we sorted that by working out what movie it came from (Bug's Life) and explaining that it is something that grumpy teenagers sometimes say and we'd rather be around happy children, thanks.

Echo others: what did your friends think of it?

woodpops · 22/09/2004 13:54

Friends weren't at all concerned about it at all.

Codswallop, there was a song not so long back that kept saying sexy boy. It was featured alot in Queer as folk and I believe it may also be on a tv ad.
