Witnesses needed for secret wedding

We are planning on getting married after being together for ten years and two DCs. Complex family with distance involved. I've never been interested in getting married but appreciate its important for kids security. None of our family know what we are planning.

We need witnesses - what have other people done in this situation? The registry office is in Canterbury on busy road but not much foot traffic so don't want to rely on strangers. Any ideas?

How can you be on MN and not know that there have been lots of MNetters who have turned up to witness secret weddings? Grin

So if you want MNetters then see how this thread goes if not, get MNHQ to edit your title to say you want witnesses for the wedding.

If you ask here with times and dates there will be mumsnetters who will offer to be your witnesses. If not.you can ask the Registrar if they provide them. Congratulations.

Checked with registry office this afternoon. Not able to provide witnesses. Currently booking for November for simple services so not likely to be before then and will definitely be a Mon, Tues or Wed early in the morning, 10/10.30

I've been a witness for a secret Mumsnet wedding, it was great. Sadly Canterbury is the wrong end of the country for me.
Report your post and ask for the title to say the area and I'm sure you'll get plenty of offers. Good luck.

I was a witness for a secret wedding for my pal, the other witness we found there. She was a ncie lady who had been there to register her husbands death and was glad to have a happy outcome for the day to remember. Good luck!

It’s most definitely a thing, i did it in Manchester!
It was lovely, another mnetter was there too and I took my dc as it was half term (bride was happy for me too as their dc were there as well)
We all went for brunch afterwards
Hopefully someone in your area can volunteer
