How can I stop a dog getting into the front garden?

This is the third morning in a row that I have found dog poo in the front garden (well it's not really a garden, the poo is in a flower bed). Some of the earth has been dug up too.

I managed to remove it yesterday but was retching at the same time.

Is there some sort of deterrent?

are you sure it's a dog? we have the same problem and it seems to be cats grrr

I found sprinkling chilli powder or pepper liberally stopped it for a while

yeah might be a cat.....

you can buy these things that project a beam of light or summat at ground level and when the beam is broken, a high pitched noise goes off and frightens them away. My dad's got one on his front garden too for a cat deterrent. Either that or perhaps go and buy a bag of lemons and cut them up into slices and place them all over your flower bed. Cats HATE citrus smells etc. you might need to replace them every couple of weeks or if it rains alot but at least it's natural and will bio-degrade.

HTH!

I'm pretty sure it's a dog. I thought cats only pooed in grass and we haven't got any. Could it be a fox?

Will try the chilli/pepper/lemon combo though! (sounds like a recipe)

cats will usually poo on earth/ sand, not grass, so could be a cat...but if on a flower baed would usually bury it, so could be a dog....

Thanks Tissy.

I've just been into the back garden and found some more - in the earth patch where ds plays with his digger . It's highly unlikely to be a dog as it's an enclosed yard/garden.

On each occasion the poo has been partially covered. It seems a hell of a lot of poo for a cat though.

Can you tell I know nothing about animals!

Sorry, but it sounds like a cat to me!!

cover the earth patch or get an electronic sensor thing!

Have just sent my mum off to the shops for some lemons!

Sorry, one last question.

Is it true that a cat will come back and poo in the same place but that a dog or a fox won't?

don't know about dogs/ foxes, but cats do like to have their own toilet spot
