Hi,

I realise that this is likely to be a very subjective topic, but does anyone know the Faversham-ish area of Kent and whether it is a good place to be for children AND adults?
(We need to move but will probably have to commute into London which is why it has to be relatively near).

I think part of Whitstables appeal is it is quite a popular and busy little place. The fact that it has organic cafes and nice shops just means I wont have London withdrawal symptoms!!
Prices there are quite high but coming from south london we will still be able to lower our mortgage considerably.
My Ds starts secondary school next year and schools is my only nagging worry now!

Tessiebear · 18/09/2004 09:45

Hi Triplets - we probably know each other - my DS' are 6 1/2 and nearly 4. I pressume you have triplets?? I know two familys in Deal with triplets - you must be one of them!

Tessiebear · 18/09/2004 09:48

Triplets - I too am born and bred in Deal - we spend many a happy summer day on Kingsdown beach - some of my family have a beach hut -yes we must meet - up!

triplets · 18/09/2004 20:46

Hi Tessie,
Well my trio go to Kingsdown school, Debbie the other triplet mum hers go to Mongeham, we know each other but funnily enough thats as far as it goes. So, won`t it be strange to meet, when and where?

emmagee · 18/09/2004 21:38

Soly just read your first post and sorry too lazy and pushed for time to read all the replies. I live in faversham and we relocated here from hackney 18 months ago. It's fab!! Close to the sea was one of the biggest attractions for us combined with fantastic schools. If you are in need of culture there's stuff going on here plus Whitstable has arty scene and Canterbury has good theatre, art etc etc Shopping, Faversham has all you need from farm shops and independent butchers to big Tesco etc to Canterbury and Ashford with superstores, Designer Outlet, Matalan etc. If you are not totally sure about living in Faversham itself then the villages around are lovely, we live out on the marshes, but there are also wonderful places up in the hills. Hope this helps, let me know if you want to know more.

Soly · 19/09/2004 09:13

emmagee,

yes, that does help - yet another thumbs up for that area. I can't think of any other questions for the moment but I'm sure there will be others.....

Ah, i think i know who you are then triplets (I know of the Mongeham triplets - have seen them at dancing dinosaurs in the past) Are your triplets about 6 or 7 and were they born at Canterbury hospital? - sorry for the questions - there may be more triplets in Deal for all i know! If you are the person i think you are i am sure you know my mum too who also lives in Deal!

triplets · 19/09/2004 17:09

Hi,
Oh this is unfair as you do know me but as yet I don`t know you! Yes, born in Canterbury in Jan 1998, Thomas Rebecca and James, I feel actually as though everyone knows me because of our story. Are you going to let me have a clue?

Tessiebear · 19/09/2004 17:31

My DS1 was born in March 98! I remember going for a check up at Canterbury hospital and someone saying "ooh that lady has just had her triplets"! My mum works in a Deal doctors surgery. Her surname is that of a person who made a living out of using a bow and arrow (if that makes any sense!) Do you live in the road which contains the missing word - "Dead *** Society" (name of film???

Tessiebear · 19/09/2004 17:32

Ps - My DS's have exactly the same names as your DS's!!!!

Tessiebear · 19/09/2004 17:38

Triplets - We could do a meet - up in the October half term if you fancy it? (Dont know about you but what with school and various sports and hobbies our everyday life is quite hectic!)I am sure our kids would get on as they are very similar ages.

triplets · 20/09/2004 09:02

Hi Tessiebear,
You are not giving much away, do I know you?. I am intrigued! We won`t be here in the halfterm, we are going to Florida on the 11th Oct for 3 weeks! Persuaded school to let us take them out for 2 weeks plus the half term. Have you been?
So which school are yours at?

Tessiebear · 20/09/2004 09:32

Triplets, no i dont think we know each other, i only know of you because of your having triplets!
Florida - wow, you will have a fantastic time, your three are just the right age to enjoy it and remember it IYKWIM. No, we havnt been ourselves, we are going to EuroDisney in April though. My two boys go to St Faiths at Ash (DS2 doesnt start full time until next september as he is not 4 until thid December)

triplets · 20/09/2004 17:59

Hi Tessiebear,
Gosh this has really gone off course from relocating to Kent! My three have just gone off to Beavers so an hours peace! We must make a date to meet up perhaps after we get back from Florida, I wonder if there are any more Mumsnetters nearby? Don`t you think its a brilliant site, I use it alot.

fio2 · 20/09/2004 18:00

triplets do you still want a caravan ?

Tessiebear · 20/09/2004 18:34

Yes Triplets it is brilliant and i spend far too much time on the site to be honest. We have just got back from football training - i was thinking of sending DS1 to Beavers - is it any good? Yes we have deviated from the thread somewhat - sorry Soly!

emmagee · 20/09/2004 22:14

soly, just had a thought re-agents. We found Baldwins and WH Breading very good, Ward and partners bl**dy annoying and the others all average!

triplets · 21/09/2004 14:09

Hi,
Thanks Fio2 but we bought a trailer tent 2 months ago and haven`t even opened it yet!!!!!!!! Tessiebear mine go to Kingsdown Beavers and absolutely love it, in fact I believe Rebecca enjoys it more than the boys! Its not long enough though, the new hours are 6-7.15pm on Mons in the village hall, by the time you take them its time to go back! Mind you I do keep suggesting us taking them then going to The Kings Head for a quick meal but it falls on deaf ears! Time for school!

Tessiebear · 21/09/2004 18:28

Good idea about fitting in a quick meal at the Kings Head Triplets!!! Your DH sounds like mine re: falling on deaf ears! 6-7.15pm is only just long enough to get home and then think about picking up again!

Soly · 21/09/2004 18:30

Hi emmagee,

thanks for the agents advice - I just about found your message squeezed in amongst the others !! (only joking triplets and tessiebear - that is what this is all about isn't it?)

OP posts:
Tessiebear · 21/09/2004 18:34

Sorry Soly! We should start another thread!

triplets · 21/09/2004 19:53

Hi,
Yes perhaps we should start a new topic section just for personal chats!

Soly · 21/09/2004 19:58

Don't be sorry - I'm enjoying your conversation and if you start another thread, I will not be able to listen in.

I know the Kings Head pub because we stayed in Kingsdown this Summer.

OP posts:
Tessiebear · 21/09/2004 20:20

OK Soly , will carry on then!

triplets · 22/09/2004 12:13

Well goodmorning Tessiebear and Soly,
I find myself wandering around Deal as I did this morning looking at Mums and thinking, could that be you Tessiebear? Perhaps Soly you should book another holiday in Deal and we three could meet at The Kings Head!
