No to PC but yes to Twiglett, now soaking the actual trays, but don't hold out much hope for them

Maybe I should try it for myself

Brilliant tip - worked a treat this afternoon on my very "stuck-on" oven. Thought I would go the whole hog and clean between the doors to show off the new gleaming interior. Merrily attacked the screws not realising that this was all that was holding the door on and it is now lying on the floor in a million pieces I think that must be the most expensive oven clean in history!! On the bright side, at least hubby will never trust me to do it again and my oven will stay sparkling clean whilst I wait for the new glass to be delivered

Demented · 14/09/2004 10:33

Sorry Coral, but LOL! That really made me laugh, hope you get it fixed though!

MeanBean · 14/09/2004 11:11

Deegward, I hate myself for being interested in this, but is it biological powder for the washing machine (to clean clothes) that you used?

ghengis · 14/09/2004 11:17

I do this with the caps for my gas hob burners: put them in a large pan/tray with hot water and some detergent and leave to soak for about an hour. Then just rinse them off and they look like new. It also works on le creuset saucepans if they get burnt!

MeanBean · 14/09/2004 11:18

What type of detergent Genghis?

Gingerbear · 14/09/2004 11:21

Deegeeward do you need one of these?

I cleaned my wooden floors once with soap powder - lifted off years of grime. Like a Flash advert, there was a clean stripe where the mop had been used

SoupDragon · 15/09/2004 18:17

How do you soak the inside of an oven? Do you fill it up with water and quickly shut the door?

ks, let me know when you have done it, you will feel sooo much better. I can't take my oven walls off as a self clean oven, unfortunately not the shelves etc aparantly (?) we shouldn't use Mr Muscle or like on self clean ovens as they destroy the coatings.

I hav bought a better scouring pad, so next month will do it again, with my tray from Lakeland.

Tip #2, don't buy plug and drain cleaners just use Soda Crystals, wearing gloves etc. Gets your drains draining lovely, and a diluted solution on your tiles leaves them scum and streak free. SO cheap a bag only costs about 80p!

scaltygirl, apparently you mix it up to a gloopy consistency and wipe it on. And leave it for oh, an hour ? According to essbee.
