I've been learning how to drive for 2 years now, passed my theory last year. I was in a car accident as a teen and suffer from dyslexia so when driving, I'm quite nervous and always getting my left and rights confused, forgetting things it's a total mess.

I failed my first test with 8 minors and 2 majors. the majors were too close to parked car and not taking the right turn at a junction (the red light was on, but the green arrow was too so I could of went)

My 2nd driving test I failed on 1 major, got too close to another car!! my 3rd, I was in the wrong lane on a roundabout and on my 4th, I changed lane to go onto the bus lane but thanks to my dyslexia, i was so preoccupied with changing lane, making sure i was safety crossing over my speed went back below 40 and I didn't realise. each test, I either fail on something I passed last time or something different and It's getting me really down. am I just too broken from the car accident and too dumb from my dyslexia to ever pass my driving test?

What was wrong with being below 40? Surely 40 is the maximum speed not target speed.

Don't worry about your left and right getting muddled. My test the very first instruction was go to the end of the road and turn right. I turned left and it wasn't until I finished my test that he told me. I hadn't realised. I didn't fail though as I indicated left and turned left so all was fine. Poor examiner though, he probably had to re-route in his mind the new test route for me with very fast thinking.

I got a few minors. If you get the same minor 3 times it's a major and a fail. I went just over 30 twice so that was lucky. I was meticulously checking speed throughout so must have been 1mph over or looked that way from where he was sat.

I feel fortunate to pass first time as I wasn't sure I had as I'd stalled on my emergency stop but apparently that didn't matter as I was calm and did the checks etc. I definitely got better as a driver just driving around after I'd passed and properly learnt to do parallel parking easily just by practising. I have a friend who has passed her test 20 years back and still can't parallel park and only finds spaces she can drive straight into or just parks at the end of a row. Means we park miles away unless she lets me do it.

Thanks for the reply. I have no idea why I got a major for that, I changed lanes, looked indicated all good. maybe he just wanted to fail me on something? surprisingly, I'm fine with manoeuvres I just mess up being observant and lanes. I swing my head like a giraffe looking around but it's still not good enough!

Good luck today Robacado. Just think of the test as a driving lesson. 🙂
