I brought Dd1 a tracksuit set from Adams this morning as she was going bowling for her friends birthday and had nowt to wear.

It had a pink jacket, whit t'shirt and pink bottoms.
She has just got back and the t'shirt has several big splodges of barbecue sauce on it and so do the trousers.

Help what can i do to get it off ????

dont let stain dry if poss-put it under COLD water quick as poss
soak in biotex and wash in bio powder

JanH · 11/09/2004 18:15

I have got curry stains out with cold water and ordinary hand-wash soap, so biotex should do it!

nutcracker · 11/09/2004 18:16

Stain has already dried and i haven't got either of those things.

All i have is non bio washing powder, some stain remover spray which doesn't always work and thats about it i think.

I really can't afford to chuck 20 quid down the drain.

and it's the first pair of trousers i've got to fit dd in ages.

re soak it in cold water
biotex isnt as expensive as some of those sprays and works loads better
it comes in a cardboard box and is worth having incupboard
i have just rediscovered it and its great

nutty, soak them in cold water and rub with ordinary hand soap and then wash with non-bio - it's all I have and it works for me.

Then after you wash have a look before you dry them and if it's still there, do it again (or use the stain removal spray).

Also, if the sun shines tomorrow, dry them in the sun (now you can!!!)

Thanks guys.

I think it has come out. I soaked them in cold water and then sprayed loads of stain removal on them.

Will examin them again closley in day light tommorow.

Serves me right for spending 20 quid on it

If there is still a trace try hanging them out in the sunshine. Amazing what the sun can bleach out. I'd all but given up hope on an orange lolly stain on a white tshirt. Makes you wonder about the ingredients though.

recently read a great article about natural cleaning materials in Sun. Times. Cleaning expert says she uses none of the spot removers such a vanish, etc. Just washing up liquid on the stain and wash in machine as normal. Thought this would not work but have removed ketchup, curry sauce, grass stains over the past two weeks and am very impressed. Will not be using vanish again!

JanH · 11/09/2004 21:45

Not even washing-up liquid, bron - whatever you wash your hands with - my washing machine is in the bathroom so that is my laundry room and I generally just soak in cold water and rub with whatever is on the basin (Imperial Leather atm). It even gets red wine out!!!!

nutcracker · 11/09/2004 21:53

Yep it's definatly come out, but i'm sure the trousers have shrunk a bit in the dryer

Dryer is possibly a bad idea, nutty - what are they made of? Assuming they are cotton-ish, wash them again and give them a good streeeeeeeetch while they are wet and then air dry them (I do mine over the banisters if it's wet outside).

If they're not cotton-ish they shouldn't shrink anyway but still give them a good pull!
