we have everything like pram, pushchairs, cot, bouncy chair etc etc etc but last time my mum and dad bought us the cot and they want to spend the same amount on this baby too (so it's fair lol)
I've told them not to worry, the baby isn't going to know, but well, you try arguing with my mother lol

so, what luxury item would you hve loved for your second child that you didn't have for the first?

Plenty of freshly new lovely clothes.

I would like one of those expensive cribs so small that baby won't be able to use it past the first months.

Basically anything that was good, cute, but not worth the extra expense.

Stick the money in a child trust fund. No point getting stuff you don't need and not very green.

fingerwoman · 12/07/2007 21:55

we have crib already lol.
she won't give money, because then the new baby will have money in its trust fund and ds won't iyswim?
it's more a pressie for us I suppose, rather than the baby.
agree it's not very green though

A green house to grow his own vegetables?

SanetJvv · 12/07/2007 22:05

I would have loved a proper breast feeding chair.

fingerwoman · 12/07/2007 22:07

yeah, i did think of a chair. I have one of those rocking chairs that are sold as breastfeeding chairs, but actually I never found it good for bf as it was too high and arm rests were the wrong height.
I shall make a note of that

Ask her to split the money between DS and DB and put in savings a/c. After all DB will be using DS's cot.

fingerwoman · 12/07/2007 22:08

lol actually bozza that's a good idea. I told her to just give me the money but she said no, I can't be trusted to spend it on the baby lol

Why don't you split the money between the children so they both have the same amount of dosh in back and have both beneffited from cot as a cot is not really one childs gift is it? Even premium bonds if she won't give you the cash.

If you have everything then there is no point buying stuff for the sake of it, what about spending the money on a weekend away when the baby is 3 months or so?

SanetJvv · 13/07/2007 08:06

Depending on the age of your oldest child... what about a double/twin buggy?

3sEnough · 13/07/2007 08:13

Fingerwoman - grandparents can buy unit trusts in grandchilds name which is tax free - you can't get at it as the grandparents and child control it, not you. She can't worry about it then!

chopster · 13/07/2007 08:26

hmm, did you have one of those stand in activity centers? They are quite pricey (the graco si about £80), but absolutely great entertainment, once the baby is a bit older. I never had them until my 3rd/4th, but absolutely loved it.

A rocking horse? A wooden fort? Something that like the cot can be kept for another generation or sold on when they grow out of it?
