Hello!

My 9 mo DD always hits her head on her cot when I put her to sleep. She can stand up now, but her legs are not strong enough, so after about 5 min of standing she falls and hits her head on the bars. HEr poor forehead is covered in bruises. Currently she is leeping in her travel cot. We tried to put cot bumber on, but it's not long enough abd doesn't cover the top of the sides. Have you got any tips or suggestions.

Thank you

Lilia

Could you improvise with a single duvet or something that would pad the bars?

Or maybe put her to sleep in a sleeping bag, this helps to restrict their movement in the cot and she may not be able to stand in it - at least not until she can sit down again as well.

Sorry, it's sleeping in her travel cot

She does sleep in the sleeping bag, but she is so determined to stand up that the sleeping bag won't stop her

I wouldn't use a cot bumper - they are supposed to contribute to cot death, in that they stop the baby losing heat out of the top of their heads, up to one year, and then after that there have been cases of children using them as steps to climb out of the cot and hurt themselves that way. Why not leave her in the travel cot until she is a bit stronger? I would highly recommend sleeping bags - we use them for our ds and although he can stand in them, he doesn't try to climb out and they are much easier to manage than bedclothes.

My ds uses a sleeping bag which doesn't stop him standing but does restrict his movements, although he can walk in it! I've put little soft toys round the head of his cot which doesn't completely stop him from bashing his head but does soften the blow.
