leaking nappies

I use Pampers baby dry at night time for our 14 month old son. The last three nights he has woken up anywhere between 2 and 4 am because his nappy has leaked at the back. I change him and he goes back to sleep no problem but I really would like to know what I'm doing wrong. He wears a size 4+ which according to the weight guide is plenty big enough for him. Any thoughts?

mckensie I posted with a similar problem and got lots of advice. The thread is under Sleep topic and named "Nappy leaking by morning - any suggestions?". Sorry can't do the link.

Anyway I got lots of advice and I think Hunnybunny's (thanks hunnybunny btw) of wearing a body rather than pjs worked. However I just left off the pj shorts so he has been basically wearing just a t-shirt/pj top and nappy in bed.

What are your son's drinking habbits, sleeping position, bedtime clothes etc that could contribute? Has there been any change in any of this?

I think sometimes they just are not tight enough and come off. I've heard the pull up pants are better and more secure. I often use Huggies at night and somehow it doesn't seem to happen so much with these.

Mckenzie, Get Pampers pull ups. They are the best. I have a 19 month old who started on them at 'round 10 months because he hated to lie down to have his nappy changed. I've never looked back. They really wrap around like pants but are totaly like top nappies (absorbancy wise). Never leaks unless he's had a rare case of the killer runs. If you find them a bit pricy, keep them only for night time. Hope you have better nights.
PS: Perhaps you could also try to feed you little one a bit earlier in the evening, so that he's got his " no 2's out of the way before bedtime"?
good luck!!

I too had problems with Pampers, mckenzie - switched to Huggies and have met with total success. After using their Freedom range, am now trying their Adventurers and they are pretty good too. The wider side strips are kinder to DDs skin too - less accidental rubbing.
I agree with Tillysmummy. Make sure you have a tight fit and pull up nice and high at the back rather than too saggy between the thighs. Sorry if that is obvious and have tried it already. Dont know about Pampers pull ups - they might also do the trick as they are designed with wriggly babies in mind!

We too had problems with Pampers at night and ever since then, a year ago, we have used Sainsburys own.

Much better, and cheaper!

thanks for all your tips and advise. When i think about it, i dont think anyone has ever could well be that I'm just not doing it tight enough or high up enough etc so will try and get someone to check i'm doing it properly. I like the idea of those pull up nappies, I've been thinking about them for a while just for ease of use so maybe this is the excuse I need to warrant the extra expense. But then again, I am a Sainsbury's girl so maybe I should try those first and save some pennies (DH would be pleased!)

We found all nappies except Boots own brand leak. And the best thing is, you can really stack up the Advantage points if you use Boots!
