Help me think of thoughtful gifts for my best friend who is in an eating disorder unit?

My best friend is admitted to an eating disorder unit. I periodically send her gifts but I've ran out of ideas. She's having a really difficult time at the moment and I want to send her a care package to let her know I'm thinking of her. Can anyone think of any ideas?

From my recent admission to hospital where there was an ED unit I would say vape fluid if she vapes a lot of them seem to, iTunes voucher or access to Spotify or amazon music. Some lovely cashmere socks, gloves or scarf.

Nice warm socks, hat or jumper
Nice shower gel
Novels
Puzzle books

Send her some Cashmere wrist warmers, from turtle doves. They're a lovely bit of luxury and mine always make me feel better.

Also if she's underweight then she'll be cold.

Those adult colouring books with some nice fineliner colours. A nice notebook for journaling, some coloured biros, puzzle books. Small teddy bear.

How about a journal?

CraicMammy · 13/12/2018 18:41

An origami book and paper? I find it helps if I’m feeling fidgety, it’s not likely to get nicked and isn’t sharp.

What about a gratitude journal or is she too unwell for that ? The idea is to appreciate the little things .. sorry long rambling link

Mindfulness colouring is good suggestion too

I think gratitude journals are ace but maybe easier out of hospital.

feverbee · 13/12/2018 19:22

Thanks for the suggestions. I've already sent her previous gifts of a journal, adult colouring book, photo album of her with our group of friends and little keep sakes. You've given me some good ideas to add to the list, thanks 😊

I’d add a really good moisturiser or hand cream. When I was anorexic my skin was awful, very dry and painful. And yes to anything that’ll keep her warm, fingerless gloves or really posh socks would be good

You sound a lovely friend, eating disorders are horrible and so destructive and will mean a lot to her you care. X

For friends going to hospital I tend to send eyemasks and earplugs unless they are in a single room.

feverbee · 15/12/2018 11:31

@JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi thank you, that's appreciated 😊

My daughter has been in a unit. I would say books, dvds (and a plain dvd player especially if no internet access), puzzle books, knitting or tapestry kits, warm tops / slippers, special shower gel, perfume, hanging wash bag.
