ELC do larger plastic animals - maybe one or two each and some nice chocolate of sorts - thorntons do cute kids' choccies and often have multibuy offers on those

Do you have to give anything at all? 1 year olds won't notice and I think the whole party bag trend is awful. As you say, bags of rubbish generally and it teaches children to expect more and more.

At one, I just give cake to take home.

Can you get some cheap plain white t-shirts and some computer transfer paper and design them a tshirt on the computer? it doesn't take long to do and can be quite cheap

ZolaPola · 30/08/2004 10:03

could get bag of sunmaid raisin boxes, always seem to go down well

Have to agree with Freckle, Melsy.

i say nothing, if you must then do 'lucky dip' on way out with tiny present wrapped in tissue paper - one each.

WideWebWitch · 30/08/2004 10:57

I wouldn't do anything for 1yos either.

melsy · 30/08/2004 20:27

Initially I was just going to give them the homeade mini fairy cakes that will be sitting with the main cake & a bag of yogurt fruits. I could then just buy some tiny little cheap gift bags.

I didnt know there was such aversion to them !!!!! Hadnt thought about it that much b4 dd !!I thought it was par for the course!! Mind you I dont normally do things that are !!!

homemade fairy cake sounds fantastic melsy - i'd be charmed if a 1yearold of mine got that. but i must say it did cast a pall - i wasn't expecting to have to get into bags until mine is at school - as late as possible basically

HI Melsy
I just had a first birhtday party and didn't even think about party bags. Nor did any of the other mums as far as I know.
Can' t imagine anyone feeling upset if they don't get one. i would be careful giving out cakes and chocolate for babies so little, most of us have yet to give ours chocolate or sugary things. ds had a lick of chocolate from his cake, but I put out a tray of celery, cucumber, bread stix as finger food for the babies.
Parties at this age are more for the parents I think !
Have a lovely day, we thoroughly enjoyed pur party. We had far too amny people I reckon, but it was such a nice thing to have all the babies and their parents over. All the babies were crawling or toddling around and everyone looked after whichever kids were in their line of sight. DH reckons it was the most relaxing time he has ever spent with DS as he was not having to watch him totally, just keep a general eye out.
I reckon we should all live in a commune so the babies become a group responsibilty and we take it in turns.
Anywa, hijacked the thread a little, good luck with the party
