Dd's friend had nits at the party...................

It was dd's party yesterday and it went really well. The only problem was that it was clearly obvious one of her friends had nits. This poor little girl was scratching away and her mum wasn't there. Another mum had a quick look and said she could see big ones running about. It was awful as I didn't have her number but all of us mums were gasping every time the girls were hugging, which girls do!
I am slighty peed off as a few months back I had the same girl round and had to phone the mum to tell her that her dd had nits and sorry but I have spent about 6 weeks trying to get them out of my dd's hair and could not bare her to get them again.
I just feel so itchy but have combed mine and dd's hair through twice already, thankfully nothing. It's just so annoying as it was so obvious that this little girl had had them for ages but what do you do?
Another person picked her up so one of the other mums said please pass a message on that she has nits. Hopefully they will be sorted by the time they all go back to school but I shall continue to make sure dd's hair is up every day!

Eeek! I'm scratching after reading this. Poor little girl. It can't be much fun for her itching all the time.

ct - It was awful, I felt so sorry for her. I also held my breath everytime she came into contact with dd. Is that bad?

I think it was a fairly natural reaction. Ds1 has very short hair and so far has never got close enough to anyone to get nits but I can't say that I would be looking forward to 6 weeks of extra combing. It must be even worse for girls as they tend to have longer hair and are more likely to hug their friends.

When dd had them it was a nightmare. I treated her 4 times in about 6 weeks. It just takes one child not to be treated and the whole cycle starts again. If it had been dd a year ago I doubt she would have let me comb her hair through but thankfully as long as she can watch Monsters Inc or Finding Nemo she will sit happily whilst I comb through for about an hour!!!!!!!!!

I hope your dd didn't catch them blossomhill. Why can't people be more vigilant?
I looked after a friends 2 kids for a few nights when she was in having a baby and her dd was crawling. She knew about it though?? what the ?? One of my sons has long layers but luckily he didn't get them. I had to buy an electronic comb from boots and treat her dd. She said not to bother keeping it up as she'd nit comb her and she was always catching them. Or did they ever go?

Ergh BH, Is this girl in dds class? I would mention to the teacher so she can hand out a notice reminding everyone, including the riddled girl, to check.
I have had a glorious summer with no nit picking at all as we barely socialised

cc - she was last year but not this year. I really like the mum btw and the little girl is lovely but it is just so annoying as nits are a real pain to get rid of. It also seemed like all of the other mums were watching her, which TBH most would! I just don't know how you can let it get that bad. Whne my dd had them I treated it straight away away and combed it through nightly for a fortnight (poor thing) The first night I think I found 2 nits and 7 eggs. Apparently this girl had about 5 in her fringe She scratched for the whole length of the party so surely she must be scratching at home!

I know, I know my dd has hair like a brillo pad and lots of it and when she has had them it has been torturous, 5 hours at the weekend getting them out
At my dds nursery there are twins with barely any blond hair and you can see the nits and even when there no nits you can see the white sacs, that surely should have been removed whilst the parent was combing? Anyway...I dont get how the parents can cuddle in for a story, see it on thier adorable twins and IGNORE it...Just beyond me, completely. Dont get it at all.

I know. The minute I knew dd had nits I had to get rid of them asap. For dd's sake. I didn't want the parasites anywhere near her
