This is an epic!
My remote on the car key packed up last week. Changed battery and it didn't fix it. So I keep setting the car alarm off everytime I open the door . Then on Friday DH had a problem with his remote on his car - co-incidence - maybe?! He set the alarm off on his car too.
Then on Saturday, having set alarm off numerous times, I went to local dealer who said that the configuration on my key was lost when I changed battery and they could fix it. This didn't work so they said I needed a new remote bit on the key as it was duff. Then I needed something doing on the car to "resolve" the problem. £140 later I left garage (having walked home and back with 5 year old and 3 year old in rain...). Got home - didn't work . Then speak to neighbour who is also having problems with his remote . We think something is broadcasting a signal at the same frequency as our remotes so they don't work. Which mean that our alarms are going off and we can't get cars started without major hassle. I have no idea who to contact about this or how to go about finding out who is sending signal. But it's really pi$$ing me off. And I might not have had to spend £140 for nothing either......
Anyone had this? What do you do?

Just needed to vent - sorry for epic post.

No - it's a Ford C-Max.

We've just had the same with dh's Ford Puma. It happened three times, twice after parking in a swimming pool carpark near(ish) to) a fire station. The third time was when someone parked stupidly close to our car (so close that we couldn't open the passenger door), and we think their immobiliser (BMW not a Ford) interfered with ours.

The first time it happened we took it to a Ford dealer and paid for 2 new batteries, and then it happened again after parking in the same place.

I don't have an answer, except that I take a different car now when I go swimming. Dh's car is getting on a bit, so we assume that perhaps the electrics are failing a bit and are more vulnerable to interference from other signals.
