She is 9
About 4ft 8 & 4st 10

She is quite a good little sailor & has been on several oppie courses

BUT if I buy her an Oppie will she grow out of it soon

Should I buy her a Topper or should I wait until she grows?

TIA
KMc

My vote is for a topper!

Oppies (is that the correct way of saying it?) are really good fun, but a topper is a longer term investment. She will outgrow the oppy in a few years when she grows alot, but a topper she will grow into. You can still sail toppers at any age (so the whole family can enjoy it, mum and dad included ) where as with an oppy they are just too small for an adult to fit into.

If she isn't a very good sailor yet you can keep the topper reefed, whereas as soon as she becomes fairly proficient the oppy will be too slow and bath tub like for her.

Are you in North or West Yorkshire by any chance?

I'm in Norfolk

But I think the oppie will be best for my back

I'll buy her a topper when she grows out of the oppie & then sell that

Hopefully by that time she will be big enough to launch it herself (or be pretty enough to con someone else in to doing it for her .....ie not me)

The little madam has changed her mind

NOW she wants a topper - preferably a yellow one (not the cheap blue/red, or the pretty pink/purple but Yellow or possibly grey)
