Driving test tomorrow, and it's going to be raining!

I haven't really had any lessons in this rain since I started learning to drive again. I did have a few rainy day lessons 2 years ago, but I feel I'm totally unprepared!

I do have an hour lesson before my test, but if you have any tips on how to drive in the rain, I'd be thankful!

Gosh, rain doesn’t make a huge amount of difference in a way, car doesn’t not grip the road but it’s another distraction.

All you need to do is concentrate.

Just watch your speed. Make sure you put your lights on and remember extra stopping distance.

Haha I make myself sound like I can’t drive in the rain, totally forgot the 4 second rule even though I do it!

Promise OP this all comes naturally after a while.

Although even though you’ve not driven in the rain I assume an instructor has told you that? I’m not trying to pick on you, I’m wondering if they have passed on this information!

I leant to drive in a November and passed in the april when it was dark, so driving in the light was wierd to me at first !

Remember to be sure where the wiper control switch is & which way is on/off/faster etc...

Thanks! My first lessons were evening ones, so I had more experience with different light/weather scenarios, but they've now been in the morning and we've had great weather for the past 6 months.

I'm hoping it'll come naturally!

Lights on, familiarise yourself with the wipers (how to adjust speed). If its raining as you start, wipe the back window before you set off.
Drive slower (especially around corners) and leave more distance.

Good luck

It could work in your favour, actually! You can afford to drive a bit slower, most other drivers will have lights on making junctions etc a bit easier.
Relax and good luck!

Thanks! I passed! Luckily it only drizzled a bit.

My son took his test in torrential rain at 9.30 in the morning - it was as dark as night. His instructor couldn’t make it so I took him and got chatting to the other instructors waiting who told me as long as you keep your head it’s the best time to take a test- hesitant driving is concealed by needing to drive to the road conditions. The weather worsened during the test and my new buddies predicted the test would be the shortest legal minimum -and no emergency stop!
DS passed and all further tests for the day were cancelled as examiners said the road conditions too poor.
Good luck OP!!
