There is no board up. It has been closed for months as sadly the previous owner had financial probs and couldn't keep it on.

We are seriously considering taking it on ( a group of families in the village) but I can't find the details anywhere. One mum found it last week but she can't remember where (or she's keeping it under her hat)

Can anyone tell me the best websites for finding retail property, have tried all local estate agents and prime location plus one or two others names of which I've forgotten.

do you know the address of the property??

are you sure it's for sale? wouldn't you find it by googling the village and something like "retail properties"? Our village shop was a tatty old place that the owner couldn't keep on financially. two village families bought it, spent a load of money making it airy and bright, got a really good idea of what would sell - mixture of deli stuff and sandwiches to catch the ponces and the local walkers, plus good fresh fruit and veg (so people can re-stock mid-week instead of making extra trips to the nearest supermarket, and basics and it's doing brilliantly. It would have been really sad to loose it as it was pretty much the only shop (apart from a veyr nice but pretty useless art gallery!). you should really go for it, if you can.

seb1 you genius - it's quite cryptic as I have to register for full details but I'm certain I have found it.

Thanks DrN too, Knight Frank was a bit out of our league I think but I will have a bit of a browse at some v.nice properties.

hatwoman - that's made me LOL as that's just the sort of stuff we were talking about selling if we did do it. Also want to gut the place and make it more village shop like.

It has a flat above which we could rent out for extra income.

The asking price is £65,000 leasehold and it needs alot thrown at it to make it nice again.

Am quite excited, am off to start a thread asking how on earth do you run a shop then!!
