To fuel my ever increasing spend on the Boden catalogue , I've decided to try & flog some of the baby items that I found quite useless e.g. posh change bag. The thing is, how do you work out the postage costs? Do people religiously go to the PO & get everything weighed, or do they guesstimate? The last thing I want to do is fleece people on costs, but finding the time to just have a cup of tea (or use MN) is enough without endless trips to the PO.

try royalmail.com and use kitchen scales!
That is what I do, works ever time, or find someone selling the same item and borrow their postage!!

Kitchen scales and print off the table from the website, then no nasty surprises if youve guessed and your way out!

Ditto - their website is pretty good. We've even sold bikes and managed to weigh them on the bathroom scales.

I sell quite a bit on Ebay - getting rid of useless junk and getting money for it works for me. I have learned to round up the postage a bit though. Some of the items don't fetch that much so by the time I've paid Ebay insertion and selling fees, Paypal fees, packaging material and postage, the profit ain't much so if it costs 42p to send something I usually add another 30p to it. I state this in the initial auction details so potential bidders know exactly what they have to pay. If I've miscalculated then I just take the hit.

Go for it - people buy anything

We tend to use the royal mail weight table thingy too, or just compare others postage for similar items. As long as you're covering the postage and packaging, it's fair.

Thanks ladies. Sadly I am one of those ppl who buys anythying . Ebay is proving almost as addictive as MN!

This is probably a bit late- but what I do is use my kitchen scales then check postal prices on royalmail.co.uk, then you just add a bit for packaging. Hope this helps.
