Do you think it's ever acceptable for a child to ride a scooter through a supermarket?

Because I don't. So Why the $$$$ do some people think it's OK to let their child go round one on those stupid Heelies? I wanted to ram my trolly across the girl's path.

no...and those heelies are offensive

Twiglett · 31/05/2007 16:14

no its obnoxious and another sign of how society is going to the dogs

LIZS · 31/05/2007 16:15

They skate because they are impossible to walk any distance comfortably in but why not take them to the park instead or make them wear real shoes to the shops. They are increasingly getting banned in shops around here thank goodness.

seamonster · 31/05/2007 16:15

No

PrettyCandles · 31/05/2007 16:15

TBH I think that Heelies are fine - it's the immaturity of the wearers that's the problem. Believe it or not, I do actually know a few children who give way on Heelies, and don't career all over the place when there are others around. All girls, as it happens.

SoupDragon · 31/05/2007 16:18

Not in a shop they're not fine, PC. My stance is that they're fine outside but are not fine indoors. They are on a par with scooters, bikes etc

Heeleys are not allowed in our local supermarkets. There are signs up all over Tesco & Asda. Thank goodness, as they are a pain in the arse!

PrettyCandles · 31/05/2007 16:26

Yeah, I suppose not in a shop, but that's where the best floors are!

(Can you tell that I'm a closet Heelie-craver?)

LIZS · 01/06/2007 16:28

apparently it is when you have a 4 year old on a 2 wheeler and a toddler in a buggy First encountered around Fruit and Veg then at check out where he was riding in circles around the queues to the till until he rode straight into an elderly man and the cashier pointed out (to mum) that perhaps he should n't be riding inside . Cue sulk as mum took it away but fortunately no screaming tantrum. Why bring it in in the first place, way too much temptation, or at least fold it up and put it on the buggy ! No wonder some kids believe Heelies are ok indoors.

bookwormmum · 01/06/2007 16:34

Apparently you can take the wheels out of Heelies. I'd be tempted to up-end the child and remove them .

My niece has a pair but when she wants to walk instead of skating or needs to use stairs, she's obliged to walk on tippy-toes. It can't be good for their feet or very comfortable come to that.
