I am fed up of going to same places in town for lunch and wondered if any one had good suggestions on places?
I usually go to art house cafe as it has play area for children.
Debenhams has the childrens meal selection but the air con is always on and its bloody cold and I dont like having to leave dd at table whilst I go and order etc.
Would like to find somewhere where we can have table service and a play area but not really sure where else has this.
Just wondered where everyone goes??

Hi jenwa, didn't realise you were a Worcester person -you must come along to one of our Worcester evenings out .

When I go into town with children in tow (which isn't that often as I prefer to go when DD is at school and DS at nursery) we quite often get some take-away sandwiches and things and go and sit by the river, weather permitting. Theres a good view of the boats, trains etc which DS loves watching and also a cafe that does lovely cakes and coffee and has outdoor seating.

I find Worcester a bit poor for luchtime eating with children TBH, hence the picnics instead.

SEcond the art house!
Found out the other day that Keystones is child-friendly but it's down stairs so I've never used it. But my friend went and said the bar staff saw her with the pushchair via the cctv and ran up to carry everything - couldn't do enough for her! They have highchairs. BUT as it's downstairs, if it's busy it can get a bit smoky so mught be a much better option after July 1st.

Another place we liked was in Reindeer court - can't remember the name but it might be the Elgar or something (it's opp Rock Lobster) and run by an Italian family who made a real fuss of the kids. You can sit out in the courtyard as well and it's covered over if it rains.

CHarlston's, also in Reindeer court is ok as well. DRuckers just down from the Art HOuse is hard to get buggies in to but child-friendly and pro-breast-feeding. Debenhams, but it's very small, er... M&S, Beatties... but I'd say generally, Wuz is a but crap for family-friendly eating in general!

BUt also MUST plug my friend's restaurant/cafe - not in Worcs as such but at the COuntryside Centre: the Orchard Cafe. Very very child-friendly, all food locally -sourced and organis where poss., allergy-friendly, etc. Lovely food and drinks and yumptious cakes.

Thank you
bettySpaghetti- last few times I have just taken sandwiches and given to dd as we walked around town. I just find that I end up buying something for her and she is not really interested in it. When will you be having another night out?
Moomin- thanks for those. I forget about reindeer court, will try there next time. I usually go in with sis in law who now has 4month baby aswell so she is BF so nice to go somewhere easy and relaxed.
I have been to Lloyds bar and they have family area but you have to go through smokey pub and down the step then you cant leav your child to go to the bar! Its best to go with others there!
Thanks about Keystones though, I love it there and never seen anyone with children so just presumed they were not allowed! Is there really no lift? I thought it would not be allowed what with disabled access etc. And like you siad it does get smokey but yeh, smoking ban will change that!

Country side centre is lovely too. Although only eaten there once, took picnic back in april when we had sun!!!! Maybe we will get some more so can go there again!!!

Worcs def needs something opening like having a ball (which Im gutted is closed) so you can call in after town for lunch and play and wear them out ready for sleep!!!!

Just nice to be able to let them play whislt waiting for food!

moomin -we went to the Countryside centre yesterday funnily enough. Went for a walk and then to the cafe for coffee and cake (fantastic carrot cake! ).

We really liked the look of the menu so intend to go back for another walk and lunch one day. Has it changed hands in the last year as I'm sure it was a much more basic menu last time we went?

I liked the fact they have lots of veggie things, childrens portions and had toys in the corner too.

re: next worcs night out -nothing arranged at the moment but usually happen every few months or so. Keep an eye open on meet-ups board.
