HELP! I have no idea of any activities in my area over the holidays. It is only day 2 and i am going mad already!

This is my first real experience of Summer Holidays, as dd is only 4 and last year could continue going to playgroup right thru the holidays. Also I have moved away from my family, and I dont really know anyone around here, so please don't think I am being lazy by asking you all for suggestions!!

If anyone knows where I can get info from or just has ideas how to amuse a 4 yr old I would be SO grateful, hope you can help!

MABS, I am Newcastle upon Tyne, and funnily enough I am starting the website for here for Netmums! I haven't been able to get any info for holiday activities though, for personal use or otherwise

Sorry Cherry that wasn't a great help then was it ...? Funnily enough I'm also thinking about setting up a Netmums site locally. How many hours do you reckon it would take though? I think their estimates of hours look a bit on the low side but I may be wrong . Locally I got summer holiday activity info from the library, they were really helpful. Regards MABS

IME kids don't need a huge schedule of activities at this age. My children love spending time with me, doing activities together - cooking and playdough. If you have a garden or patio, you can do some great messy stuff with clay or paints, without worrying about the carpets. Also check out your local swingpark - you might meet some good friends there. My son loves museums, and I know there's some great ones near you - The glass centre at Sunderland, Beamish of course, Diggerland in co. Durham ... but it's easy to overfill a holiday with hectic activities. On holiday in Cornwall we did loads of "exciting trips", but ask the boys (3 and 5) what they liked best, and it's the beach every time.
