Would you say anything to my neighbour if you were living next door to her?

I live in a terraced house. The next door neighbour is a nice enough lady but...she recently invested in a dog that barks most of the day and her son has taken up the drums (no sign of him giving up after a good number of months). They seem to have installed the drum kit in their living room on the ground floor and whenever he plays we can hear him clearly in our living room and pretty well throughout the rest of the house. In general he practices for an hour in the evening and for several hours each weekend. Although dd sleeps through it it's starting to annoy me not least when I sit down for a bit of peace and quiet and suddenly find myself listening to drum practice or when we have friends over and have to listen to the drums coming through the walls. I'd be interested to hear what, if anything, the collective wisdom of mn would do or say if you had the same next door.

I'd probably go and just have a chat. If she's nice she'll understand I'm sure. They probably don't realise you can hear it so much.
Maybe ask if they can keep the drum practice to certain times? As for the dog I'd just say that the barking all the time is keeping your dd up or something so she doesn't think you're being nasty.
If that doesn't work then I'd complain to the council. Drums and dog barking sounds like a nightmare.

if the drums are a real problem then he can get 'mufflers' to put on them to quieten them down.......i know how annoying it must be because my dp is a drummer, and to be honest i am very used to it now, but i can imagine how it must disturb your peace.
