Hiya, not too sure where really to put this thread!
I have booked my first standing up sunbed tomorrow and need some advice? How long? Any tips? I'm scared I won't be able to get out haha how stupid.

Also before everyone says I will get cancer, I won't be having them very regularly, I'm just trying to prepare my skin for holiday in turkey because I usually get prickly heat so just want my skin to get use to the heat

There are other, healthier ways to prepare for a vacation. I wouldn’t risk it, your skin will be red and parched and very very unattractive.

@Candyflip how do you suggest I prepare?

Go on for only 3 mins for your first few visits. Use a sunbed lotion on your screen just prior to going in - they will sell them there or look on amazon, they have loads.
Moisturise your screen before bed.

Are you looking to build up a tan or just get your skin used to the heat?

I’m fair skinned and hardly built up a tan from months of sunbed use prior to my wedding so unless you tan normally in the sun you may be disappointed if your hoping to be bronzed and glowing for your holiday!!

Skin, not screen...!!!

Strengthening your skin rather than destroying it with sunbeds. Tons of moisturiser and very very gradual sun exposure.

Pre tanning doesn't prepare your skin for the sun. That's a myth (it actually does the opposite, there was a fairly lengthy study done. A base tan only provides a SPF of 3-4 with those having a sunbed tan more likely to burn as they think their skin is 'prepared')

I wouldn't ever use a sunbed but that's because I think they're dangerous. Not worth the risk.

You just need to wear sun screen whilst you're out there. That's it...

rather than buying skin cancer, get some loose cotton clothes, shade 11-3, sunscreen, rash vest , board shorts in the water and no deliberate sunbathing.
