Hello, am moving near Elstead end of July and would be very very grateful for any ideas on activities for 4yr old DS. He loves soft play, playgrounds etc so all suggestions welcomed.

I don't mind driving further afield so please feel free!

Oh yes the Gymnastics Factory just outside Guildford - expensive but they have the most amazing facilities and do lessons and summer courses.

Hi everyone, thanks again as this thread has given me masses of ideas.
Kaz33 and Scanner-i'd love to get in touch nearer to the time if that's still ok with you both?
Re primary schools I do know of St Mary's in Chiddingfold, which I've heard is very good-I'm in the process of looking though the Surrey schools admissions brochure and am starting to lose the will to live.

i think most of the primary schools in this area are good tbh

Scanner · 26/05/2007 19:51

St Marys in Chidd is aparently very good, but I know of two families who haven't got in this year, have appealed and still not joy - so it's over subscribed. However all the local primary schools are great around here.

No problem rabbit, no doubt by July I will be losing the will to live .

My kids have just both had chicken pox so it feels like I haven't left the house for a month. And, now it is half term - aaaaagh

Watercress and Brockets are brill.

I'm near Godalming with a nearly 4 yr old dd and would love to meet for a play. Witley Common is great for letting off steam. As is Puttenham Common. Schools - Elstead has a good rep now - new head I think. Milford does too. think Witley is a bit shaky with new head... Shackleford is small and cute if you lkike that sort of thing!

AlphaLolly · 14/06/2007 23:38

Odeon Kids on Saturday mornings at Odeon Guildford x

hotcrossbunny · 15/06/2007 12:05

Didn't know they did that!

lou33 · 15/06/2007 12:16

the new head (well not new but most recent) is definitely not beloved in this area

milford otoh has a fantastic head who refuses to send any homework but reading home, as she believes kids that age (4-7) should be learing by playing and having fun after school

the odeon in guildford also do film sessions for mums with tiny babies who are being breastfed, or little kids not at school, so mums can take htem along and watch a film

lou33 · 15/06/2007 12:16

new head at witley i mean

hotcrossbunny · 15/06/2007 12:47

She was certainly quite rude to us when we went to visit! (Witley head that is )

lou33 · 15/06/2007 12:50

it's a shame because teh school was lovely when the previous head was there

she is really unpopular for campaigning to change the admission boudaries to exclude most of witley and include a neighbouring village

all the parents in witley who were refused a place got in on appeal

it's called witley infants ffs, you would think the kids in the same village would be allowed to attend

i saw her going for the interview to replace the old head, and remember thinking omg i hope she doesnt get it

rabbitrabbit · 18/06/2007 16:38

Hotcrossbunny-it would be lovely to meet up. I will definitely contact you, Kaz (hope you survived the chicken pox) and Scanner closer to the move and I hope to meet you all! Though will admit to being a bit nervous about meeting other MN'ers as have never dont it as yet!
Whata shame about Witley infants-even I had heard about it and it looks lovely. We've spent quite alot of time on Witley cricket green (we also looked at woodlands montessori in the village) and we love it there.
Thanks for all the advice, please keep it coming!
