I'm waiting to speak to my sister who is a director at the Crowne Olaza in Leeds. I'll let you know as soon as I do.

Yorkiegirl, my suggestion would be the Tiberio in Pudsey ... terrific food and loads of it but I'm not sure how child-friendly it is?
Am trying to think of other nice places to suit parents i.e. yours, and children ... can't come with anything at the moment - will let you know if I do

The Angel Inn at Hetton is v. good - it's in North Yorks about an hour from Leeds. I don't know about the kiddie aspect of it though - we went BC

Interested in any ideas you get as I have to arrange (rather less posh) do in October.
If you can compromise on posh and assume you will travel across Leeds, found lunch at the Flying Pizza, Street Lane, Roundhay brilliant with kids. Obv, cliche vis Italians and kids. But place seems dead popular with trendy/posh/famous(ish) of Leeds.

BadHair · 21/08/2004 23:21

I used to live in Leeds (10 yrs ago though) and used to take folks to Lawnswood Arms on Otley Road when they came over.
It wasn't exceptionally posh but it was family friendly (quick google tells me it now has a wacky warehouse) and the Sunday lunches were fab. My very fussy grandparents, who harboured delusions of grandeur, were suitably impressed.
Obviously I haven't been for donkey's years, so can't say what its like nowadays but I'd say it was worth investigating.

I know that it is quite a trek for you YG but any anniversaries/birthdays in our clan are celebrated at Le Bistro in Doncaster. The Sunday lunches are great - good menu choice and good value. Children are welcomed too.

here is the website:

If it's not booked up and if it's not too far The Three Acres is superb. It's right next to Emley Moor mast and does a wonderful Sunday lunch (3 courses for about £20 I think). The food is fab and They're great with kids (had DD's Christening lunch there)

Hi Yorkie

Sorry it's fully booked - it really is a lovely place. Def. recommended. Another time maybe?

I may not be able to make it tomorrow. bit of a family emergency has occured (although nothing life or death!)and my mum may have to rope me in to ferry her about tomorrow. If she can get someone else to do it I'll see you, but if not what about another time?

Yorkie,

For the record the Bayhorse Fairburn is lovely, and is child friendly.

They do sunday lunches and also have the Ings Brasserie, which has a French feel to it, here are the links

Right as you were considering the Bay Horse Inn, I thought that I would recommend this one as it isn't much further away from where the Bay Horse was.

Its lovely food, you can either go to the carvery and help yourself, or, choose a meal from the menu. It is very child friendly and has a lovely atmosphere, just have a look round the site, it'll tell you more.
