We moved into a council place about 3 weeks ago. I've never lived in a council property before so not sure how they work... so far I'm not impressed.
We put the washing machine in the day we moved in. The whole sink unit is brand new. Seemed fine. A few days later, the washing machine starts tripping the fuse switch for all the sockets. Seems that water is going from the sink into the washing machine drum
I rang the council 'repair line' loads of times and they kept telling me that the washing machine is not their problem, especially as we connected it ourselves. They eventually sent a so called plumber who plunged the sink for about 2 minutes and said it was fine.
Now the wahing machine has completely blown and whilst it's been standingunused the drum has filled with water from the sink again.
I've now had to pay £300 fora new one and they are still telling me it's not their problem. The new washing machine comes tomorrow, we are up to our eyeballs in washing and I don't want the same thing happening... what do I do? Take it higher? Threaten them? demand the cost of the new washing machine??
