Why do some MNers seem unable to believe that some women WANT to stay at home with their children?

I've seen so many posts lately going on about how women are forced to take months/years out of their careers and therefore find it harder to break the glass ceiling etc, how we should all be back a our desks within minutes of giving birth, how we should have the option of giving away our maternity leave to another relative so we can go back to work quicker.
I for one actually chose to put my career on hold. I work one day a week and am very happy with that arrangement because i get to spend as much time as possible with my boys while they're little but keep my career ticking over so i can resume it properly when they are both at school full time.
There must be others like me who think spending time with their children is more important than their career.
I'd love to hear some positive SAHM stories. What's the best thing about it?

Ah, now this is nice isn't it, being able to discuss the joys of being a SAHM without having to justify our existence to certain people.
I love being a SAHM but today I could have cheerfully strangled my two

Blackandwhitecat - I suspect this thread is in response to the "is maternity leave sexist" one in which some people were saying just those things.

oops, x post
blackandwhitecat, I was referring to certain posters constantly giving SAHMs a hard time, not all WOHMs. In your situation I'd have done the ame, in fact when my two are both at school full time I intend to do my best to find a job that I can do only during schools hours, even if it means going freelance.
Please don't feel I was criticising working mums because i wasn't.

OK, sorry, I have to say I was feeling a bit 'got at' for being a WOHM on here before contributing to this thread. It's so obvious there's no right and no easy way to be a mum. Disadvantages and advantages to both SAHM and WOMN. Have to find your own way...
