Anyone in Tetbury, Gloucestershire? - advice about what it is like

I hope this is the right place to enquire about this. My first post.

I am 30 and have 1 year old daughter. We want to get out of Ealing, London and husband has an interview for job in Tetbury.

General feeling is it seems nice and affordable, but nothing beats a personal impression. Anyone?

I recently decided not to go back to my job so am full time mum. Go to a couple of mum toddler groups.

What's Tetbury like for these and schools?

Is there good everyday shopping there?

Is there any areas to avoid looking at for a house?

I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Siobhán

Only know it from day-trips. Nice little shops and cafes/restaurants, but don't know about everyday shopping.
Affordable isn't the word I'd choose! But if you're coming out of London it's all relative!

Tetbury is quite a small market town, there is a Tescos there though. Cirencester is not too far away for bigger shops, swimming pools etc or even Cheltenham. If you want really big shopping i.e John Lewis etc you can get to Cribbs Causeway near Gloucester within about 45 mins. It's pretty quiet in Tetbury on the whole, lots of antique shops. There is a small library, doctors etc but it is quite quiet. I don't know what it's like for toddler groups in Tetbury itself but I don't live too far away and I find that if you are willing to drive there are lots of things going on in the small villages. Bear in mind that in rural areas there is very little in the way of public transport, so you do end up driving a lot. The whole of the Cotswolds is bloomin' expensive though but I guess prices would compare quite well to Ealing. Tetbury is quite expensive on the whole - Prince Charles lives nearby!! For property your best bet would be to have a look online at Prime Location, ring up some agents, and then maybe arrange to spend a day down there looking around to get the lie of the land.

Ooooh thanks that all helps with the picture.
I spoke to childrens services yesterday and they in turn gave me contact number for P.A.T.A. I also rang one estate agent and they are sending some details for us to get an idea. First thing we did was check online house prices as we thought no way it'll be too pricey. But a recent valuation of our 2 bed 2 up 2 down victorian terrace was £320,000 - £335,000 and the estate agents said at top of range we could get 4 bedrooms in the area. We just want out of this dump.
