I think they do, yes, but I'm not sure which ones

filthymindedvixen · 15/05/2007 18:55

But will boycotting alone do anything? (I already do boycott nestle products but I'm dismayed at how many products are covered which I had no idea about

Can we devise a pithy outline letter for people to sent on a postcard to Nestle Inc every now and again, stating something like ''today I needed some chocolate/hair dye/cat food/whatever. I did not from your range Nestle because Nestle is complicit in the death of babies. yours etc''
If thousands of people regularly write explaining why they are boycotting these products, might that be effective? Eventually?

Lord knows we have enough pithy word-smiths on here....

here

SugaryBits · 15/05/2007 19:16

Divine and Dubble and co-op fairtrade choc?here

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 15/05/2007 19:51

I haven't bought Nestle for years. Even DD1, aged 5, lectures other children if she see's a KitKat in their lunch box

I think a coffee ban, if nothing else, would have a big impact. It must be their biggest earner (guessing btw). And it's easier for everyone to remember a single product line.

Although once you're in the habit of avoiding Nestle products, shopping is easy. The DCs are well drilled regards Nestle, so if they ask for a particular cereal, I only have to say 'oh it's Nestle' and they accept the reason immediately. I did start 'em young though!

Rantum · 15/05/2007 20:21

Should all be buying fairtrade coffee anyway - so that's another incentive!

TnOgu · 15/05/2007 20:28

Thank you Lulumama for that list

I have boycotted Nestlé products for some time now but it's handy to have such a comprehensive list of all the affiliated products

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/05/2007 21:02

Thanks for the tip re Nesquick-style powder at ASDA and the German one. I don't know how much longer the DCs will be into it or if it's just a fad, but it gets them drinking lots of milk ATM.

zizou · 15/05/2007 21:07

This is great, thank you for the exhaustive list.

I was going to link them (Nestle) to this thread to let them know that people are still aware of their unethical practices, but then wondered if they might do a SWMNBN and try and close mumsnet down...

There are only about 4 companies in the world now....

CorrieDale · 15/05/2007 21:18

Yes, but can anybody recommend a Toffee Crisp alternative. I haven't had one in years - not since Rowntree were taken over. But every time I see one, I dribble ever so slightly.

Tatties · 15/05/2007 21:19

FMV I think that is a good idea. I don't think I buy anything on that list anyway so they aren't going to notice me boycotting them!

Loshad · 15/05/2007 21:30

thanks for the new list, i'm a baby milk action member, but hadn't noticed it was ok to buy libby's juices agina - useful as they are in vending machine at swimming pool.

ruty · 16/05/2007 01:26

i'd forgotten about the Body Shop. can't believe Roddick did that.

babygrand · 16/05/2007 06:14

I remember my parents banning anything to do with Nestle - ooh, 25 years ago? - because of this. Obviously doesn't do much good if nothing has changed.

islandofsodor · 16/05/2007 11:59

Giantsquirrelspotter.

I shouldn't worry too much about Nestle doing a swhmbn. they tried it on an advert babymilkaction ran and lost in court.
