Baby Models Advice please

Hi I am new to mumsnet but I have a real concern and any advice is appreciated. Sorry its a bit of a long storey.

My husband was pressuring me into the whole baby modelling thing so that my 8 month old DS and I had something extra to do with my spare time. So I went along with is and stupidly signed up to the first thing that came up on the search, needles to say I had no idea what I was making myself vulnerable to.

I signed up to babymodels.uk. Sent them some pictures. I was a bit doubtful and not really into the idea but they sent back a complimentary email saying he was just what the agency was looking for. I read into the website and everything seemed easy to follow, just a registration fee which covers work licensing of £75 upfront... er ok...but apparently i can make that back if he gets 2 jobs right?....

then have a practice photoshoot. I warned my husband they would probably be super expensive and we would be pushed hard to buy them. We drove 20 miles into London. My DS was awesome, as usual, got talking to the photographer, got pushed into spending £399 (this was not easy for us) on professional pictures (that i wasn't 100% keen on but husband seemed to love), and got onto the A-list profile with 5 stars in every category and a write up of how good DS was.

Now emails look like this
"Thank you for contacting us today.

All models are automatically considered for assignments that match their age and look. Therefore, we would have already put your baby forward for any corresponding assignments.

Please also note that only 5-10% of our assignments get posted on the job board. The rest are fulfilled within 24 hours and therefore don’t get posted.

You don’t need to take any action regarding assignments that are posted. We will contact you immediately when a client wishes to hire.

Kind regards"
And yet today there was listed on the sight a vague job description that DS fitted and I heard nothing from them. Are they scamming me? should I be patient? should I be warning people to prevent other victims to this money trap? Is there anything I can do?

Thanks for reading

Bumping for you OP. I don't know much about these agencies but I'm sure you're not meant to pay for anything upfront so I'd be giving this agency a wide berth. They're meant to get their money from the clients who get the photos.

"My husband was pressuring me into the whole baby modelling thing so that my 8 month old DS and I had something extra to do with my spare time" - do you not have tumble tots in your area? This is also part of your problem; if your DH is so keen, why isn't he taking the baby modelling?

Yes, I don’t believe modelling agencies who have work available charge their models to work for them.

More importantly, your DH doesn’t seem to care about your feelings at all. Is he always this much of a bully? If you don’t feel comfortable about something, especially where your child is concerned, you need to stand up to him.
