Conservatory flooring

If you have a conservatory what do you have on the floor (and what is the 'purpose' of your conservatory) ?

We have recently-ish moved to a house with a conservatory which is to be a playroom and a summer sitting room. Currently it has laminate which I don't like but not sure tiles are suitable in a playroom !

So... inspire me... please !

We have laminate (although real wood in rest of downstairs). Laminate is colder than wood in winter but is much more hardwearing. We have put a rug down in the middle so its not as cgilly on your toes!
I use mine as a craft room / general relaxing area.

We have tiles with a rug in the winter. Ours is used as a dining room. Tiles are lovely, easy to keep clean, a bit cold in winter but possibly not ideal for a playroom!

We have stone tiles with underfloor heating....it's lovely!

We use ours as a general dumping ground and lobby because everyone comes round the back (we live in the country).

Oh and I grow oranges, olives and chillis in mine.

thanks everyone - was wondering about underfloor heating. We have radiators in ours but they're not that effective.

Perhaps we should just stick with the laminate with a really big rug - I don't like the look of laminate. As with you Whizz we have real wood in the rest of house which I love. I'd love stone but really think thats asking for trouble in a playroom !

Love the idea of growing stuff in there too - a friend of mine has a grape vine which covers the ceiling which looks far more attractive than our blinds !!

Interested in any more ideas if anyone has them !

We put a conservatory on our last house. It was lovely and huge, but like a fridge in winter. I really, really wish we'd put underfloor heating it.... I think it is the only option TBH.

I also tried to make roof blinds to keep some heat in, using thermal fabric, but they were a disaster really.

Underfloor heating under ceramic tiles if I did it again.

Themoon - it is, I'm afraid the only way to go - and it only cost us about £700 which when the conservatory cost over £20K (handmade for a listed building) is pretty inconsequential.

and the cats love us for it!
