Can you tell your children that you love them too much?

I am constantly telling my ds how much I love him and asking for cuddles.

I do wonder if this might affect our relationship later in life. You know, become rebellious cos Mum loves me whatever.

Or

Maybe he will become so confident that people will grow to dislike him.

Oh, this parenting thing is sooooo hard!

i was told you have to say i love you at least three times a day by a health worker but i do say it all the day to my 2yr ds but my dd 7-9 always say it as they go out to play or off to school and off to bed they are very close since daddy left which i always looked on friends as lucky when they had good relationships with their older children hoping one day i would have that too although anyone who did mile for maude with me would know my 9yr dd was not happy and tried her best to embarass me bless her

i tell dd all the time. I don't think it's wrong. I also ask her if she loves mummy mostly it's yes but sometimes it's no followed quickly by 'poooooorrr mummy'. She's just turned 2. I also ask her if mummy loves dd and she says 'yes, lots' awwwwww

I don't think it's all this telling them 'I love you' that makes them secure and confident.

A child could feel loved and totally secure in that without ever being told. And of course as has been said already the opposite can be true, a parent could be quite emotionally damaging and still be saying this 3 times a day.

I think saying it and hearing it back is , affectionate and nice but actually pretty surface stuff.
