i cannot bear to have the wheels locked.....drives me nuts!!! i have a 3 wheeler with a fixed wheel that is ok cos it was a bargain, but i hate it not having a swivel wheel. Just use it for going for walks and to the beach. its a nightmare trying to steer a pushchair with a fixed wheel round a corner with 2 toddlers to keep hold of as well!!

MadameButterfly · 06/08/2004 15:13

The only time I lock mine is when it is folded up in the car.

Azure · 06/08/2004 15:30

I much prefer the front wheels locked - I feel out of control otherwise.

oiseau · 06/08/2004 15:35

my mum locks mine and it drives me mad! I don't understand how you can steer with locked wheels?

emmatmg · 06/08/2004 16:13

Pram wheels were always locked.
But now buggy wheels always swivel.

Couldn't stand the pram wheels swivel-ly.

nutcracker · 06/08/2004 16:34

I can't stand them locked, drives me up the wall.

I had one buggy that had wheels that would lock if you so much as breathed on them.
I brought another buggy

Had a fixed wheel 3 wheeler, and it was such hard work... life is so much easier now I've got a swivel wheel one. Don't have to do a wheelie to get round corners anymore! But my baby jogger is fixed wheel; its impossible to run with a swivel wheel unless you're on a perfect surface.

tammybear · 06/08/2004 16:41

I cant seem to cope with locked wheels. Prefer them unlocked, although I do hate trolleys....

edam · 06/08/2004 16:50

Dh always locks the front wheels and it drives me mad. Much harder to get round corners with locked wheels although maybe is different if you are pushing around a park rather than on busy pavements.
Off to experiment now...

Just you and me, then, Twiglett.

My big 3 wheeler has a fixed wheel and I much prefer it. My Volo has optional fixed/swivel. I do normally just leave it on swivel but it general drives me potty; I just forget i can lock them!

Fio2 · 06/08/2004 17:27

i am a swiveler

Aero · 06/08/2004 17:31

I really wanted a three-wheeler for ds, but refused to buy one as we couldn't find one with a front wheel that swivels! Locked wheel drive me mad!

HiddenSpirit · 06/08/2004 22:19

I think it can depend on the pram/pushchair as DS1's pushchair I had to lock the wheels as they went which ever way they wanted to go, but with DS2's I can't stand them being locked because it won't steer properly. Both different makes, so maybe that plays a part?

Swivel wheels for day to day meandering, and locked wheels for going over rough ground.

Linnet · 07/08/2004 01:10

dd2's travel system has swively wheels. today in town I accidently rammed dd1's heels, well she was standing right in front of me what did she expect and she does it all the time think she'd have learnt by now that the pram goes forward and if she's in the way she will get run over, sorry I digress anyway, after running into dd1 the wheel on that side locked and it was a nightmare trying to get out of the shop door. I don't understand why anyone would want to keep their wheels locked or buy a pram with locked wheels, makes going round corners very difficult in my opinion.
Unless of course like some of you have said you go running with your three wheeler or are going over rough ground.

Always locked of course The pavements are pretty rough round here...and sooo much easier for going up and down kerbs.
I suppose it would be easier in a shopping center if I remembered to unlock them...?

munchie · 08/08/2004 08:55

Whenever my dad pushed my children in their buugy, he always locked the front wheels, it drove me mad!!!! It's much easier to push when they aren't locked.
