Advice for getting baby's sick smell out of the sofa?

Whoops. DD was sick on the sofa last night. I blotted it with paper towels and it hasn't stained. It smells awful though, despite using Febreze. Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of the pong?

I find Dettol very useful in these situations - dilute in the sink with lots of water and rub it in. Will depend on the type of sofa though - do a discreet test first!

I have two suggestions in case the bicarb or dettol doesn't work:

  1. Liquid ammonia - I bought mine from Boots years ago, don't know if they still sell it but it works a treat
  2. A little vinegar mixed in water. This sounds bizarre I know and you will be thinking that your sofa will smell like a fish and chip shop, but it won't. It is my latest find and it also works very well. Apparently good for getting rid of pongs in rooms as well. Just leave the solution in a bowl in the room and somehow it neutralises the odours. Good luck!
