dd1 lost her 1st tooth today. She is only 4, but cut her teeth very early, so i figure this could be why she lost one earlier than i had thought she would.

It was so tiny and perfect. my baby is growing up!!

Hello again.

Well i made a crap job of it the first time i did it. First i tripped up going in to the room and then i couldn't find the tooth.

misdee · 03/08/2004 20:30

i got her a book a few weeks back about the tooth fairy, and it has a little velvet purse with it, so we have put it under her pillow in that, so will hopefully be able to find it later.

Ahh...thats so sweet. Will you keep the tooth Misdee? My little girl (5) has just got her first wobbly tooth and it does make you stop and think doesn't it? I was talking to my friend about this today, and she puts 'fairy dust' (glitter) around where the tooth fairy has been for her little dd when she loses a tooth (and some money too of course). I thought that was lovely..

How exciting! My DS is too young for this yet but I had to be TF once when I was working on a summer camp - have fun!

How much does the tooth fairy give in your parts?
Two of my children are being regularly visited by her, and there seems to be a problem in that she doesn't give my kids as much (not nearly as much) as she does other children in the area. And yet their teeth are as perfect as you could wish for. PROBLEM!

misdee · 03/08/2004 21:45

well she wants a shiney coin, thats not too big for her small hand. so i think we might settle for £1. tho we might also only give her 50p. i havent yet decided.

Oh. We give 50p and felt generous doing so, but some bits of ivory seem to go for ten times that amount! All very well, but we have four producers of ivory and only one earner of the shiny stuff.

Anyway, don't want to put a dampener on this happy moment. It is a wonderful time. I love their excitement at the wobbly teeth and then the great moment when it comes out. Mine lost theirs at school and the teachers were lovely, putting the tooth in an envelope and drawing a smiley face on the outside. It is a great, old-fashioned, childhood experience IMO.

My dd was 4 when she lost her first tooth. the tooth fairy leaves a £1 in our house and she also leaves something at my granny's house for dd! We have a little pewter box with a fairy sitting on a swing on the lid that is just the right size for a £1 coin, in fact you could only get a £1 coin in it. It sits on her dressing table so I don't need to go raking around under her pillow. But I will admit there have been times when I've woken up in the middle of the night realising that I've forgotton about the tooth, ooer, lol just as well I remember in time, dd would never forgive the tooth fairy if she forgot her.

AAAAAwwwww. I couldnt find dds tooth when hers fell out I ended up waking her up and giving her a lovely trinket box so that the "fairy" would be able to find it! This was about 2 o'clock in the morning. She couldnt remember in the morning and by that time id swopped the tooth for a pound.

Well dd1 woke up this morning, and saw her little purse still there and said the fairy hadnt come. iasked if she was sure, made her open the purse, and inside was a shiney 50p piece. She was so happy. I have kept the tooth, atm its in my old glasses case, so i dont throw it out, but will get a proper box for it soon.

Our tooth fairy left a note once...I wrote it out normal size and then photocopy-reduced it v v small. (But sadly I then cut round it with normal size pinking shears and she KNEW! This is the child who spotted that we and FC used the same wrapping paper when she was about 4. She also knew I was pg before I told her, aged 2½, from earwigging on very coded conversations. Be warned!)
