Heading south down the A49 any suggestions for somewhere to stop and entertain the kids for a couple of hours?

If the weather is nice, there is a good playground and paddling pool in Shrewsbury near the swimming pool (sorry can't remember the name of it) Also loads of soft play places in the area.
Further down the A49 is Craven arms - there is a discovery centre and an old working farm I think. Also Stokesay castle (but that would depend on how old your dc's are)

Don't know the area north of Shrewsbury - sorry. Is Chester too far off the route?

MrsWho · 08/05/2007 12:36

Been to Craven Arms before when we stayed in Shropshire think that was where we went for lunch at a nice pub with a bouncy castle?

Was planning on setting off at 8ish and (according to the AA) it takes 4 1/2 hours to get to Ross on WYe so was planinng on stopping at 11.30-12 have lunch look round somehwere/do something for 2 hours ish then set off again.

DDs are 5 & 7.

Chesters a bit off route, have been loads of times anyway.

Well............there's Newbridge Farm Park at Little Marcle, Ledbury, HFDS HR8 2QG. This is a fab farm, free tractor/trailer rides, you can buy bags of pellets to feed the animals, a good cafe plus super outdoor play area. I've not been this year, but I have taken local Toddler and Playgroup there in the past. Not sure if it's too far off your route but comes well reccommended by me . HTH
