What do you do when you have sent out party invitations but have received no RSVPs?
Two weeks ago I sent out invites to a selection of children at DS1s nursery school inviting them to his 4th birthday celebration.
So far I have received 3 RSVPs, 1 formally, the other 2 from chasing moms in the playground and getting a verbal answer.
Admittedly, I have requested RSVPs back by Mon 7th May so no one is technically late, but there is only 1 school day left, tomorrow (today is Polling Day, Mon is a Bank Holiday), I work part time so have 2 non working days before his party to buy groceries.
What do I do? Do I send out RSVP reminders? Chase the moms around the playground if I see them tomorrow? Assume that no RSVP means they will not be joining us? However, if they did turn up for the party, what do you do, turn them away, no RSVP means no entry?
I feel I sound like Hyacinth Bucket but I just want to get the food quantity, party bags etc right.

don't turn them away for not RSVP-ing you smile swwetly through gritted teeth and say brightly, "ooh, Hi! I wasn't expecting you!! But do come on in!!". Thsi makes them feel awkward for not RSVPing but still means DS gets a party and not a reputation for having a bouncer on the door at his party!

Chase them.
Then assume at least half of the non-repliers will arrive.

A lost cause, I'm afraid. Even if you chase, some people will say they're coming and then not bother. Tigana's right that you can't turn people away for not replying - imagine the repercussions if you did.

Just serve food you don't mind eating the leftovers of for the next week.

Sorry, but that's my experience.

Thank you, I am well toned, 6 foot and would make quite an intimidating bouncer for the average 3 - 4 year old, not excluding their mommies.
