How long does it take in length of time for a surveyor to do (A) a valuation report (B) full structural survey

Trying to work out if my buyers have gone for a valuation only or a full survey. I can't be sure if they said to me it would only take 1/2hr or an 1hr. Surely if full survey it would take longer??

Full one takes hours if done properly.

Thanks Muffin thats what I thought. Looks likely its valuation only. I don't want to phone them back and ask how long they will be as I will look a complete numpty.

Valuation takes about 30 - 45 minutes iirc, full survey up to several hours and a homebuyers' report somewhere in between but probably on the shorter side.

we've had both done recently for a purchase, but as we weren't there I can't tell you how long it took ( as to how helpful that is).

But, when we remortgaged a couple of years ago on the old house, the valuer was literally in and out in 20 minutes - she measured up, counted bedrooms, squinted around the outside, kicked a couple of walls.

The full one we have just had done though, the agreement we signed was full of the stuff they weren't going to do - won't go up ladders, everything from ground level, won't dig anything up etc. I would be most surprised if he was there more than an hour or two at the most.

Thanks both. Just trying to work out if I have time to pick up ds or make other arrangements - will probably have to bite the bullet and call them in the morning.
