Help me word a letter to Crayola please!

DD was given a Crayola Stickermania sticker maker for her birthday in March. Having previously been through 2 Cilla sticker makers I would never have bought it myself but figured maybe the Crayola one would be better. But no, just as bad - jams nearly every single time you try to use it (and that's even if I use it for them so you can't say it's because they're not being careful with it) and takes at least 30 minutes of sweating and swearing to unjam it, cut off at least a foot of ruined sticker paper and refeed it. I was just going to chuck it in the bin (to go and live happily in the landfill with it's Cilla cousins) but DD was so upset I thought I might write a letter to Crayola - actually in the UK and Europe it seems to be a company called Binney & Smith.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing or any idea how to word such a letter. And would it be ok to send as an email instead of a paper letter?

I did something similar recently- I complained to Yeo Organics cos their new yoghurts came in a plastic tray inside a cardboard box and I felt it was excess packaging! I emailed them and explained my feelings and got a nice email back a couple of days later explaining their production techniques and why the plastic tray had to be included.

Afterwards though, I thought if I had written a letter they might have sent me some vouchers for some free products or money off! But of course because I had emailed them they didn't have my address. My advice would be to explain the problem and then play on the fact your DD LOVES their toys and is HEARTBROKEN it won't work and you ALWAYS buy their products because they are quality and on this occassion you've been let down. Worth a try!

Thought you might be interested, my ds has a Boots own make sticker maker which is great!

Yes, my only worry is they will just offer to send me a new one. So how do I word it so that they offer me vouchers or something for OTHER Crayola products but not another rubbish sticker maker!??

I agree with durdle.

1 write it as a letter

2 make out their products are always excellent

3 devastation of your daughter

You could always say you've had to buy her a new one to replace the first rubbish one that kept breaking and that you are writing just to express your disappointment.....

Not that I want to make myself sound like a serial blagger!

How about something like this?

*
Dear Sir or Madam,

My six year old daughter recently received a Crayola Stickermania sticker maker for her birthday. She was delighted as we have always been huge Crayola fans in our house - from the box of 64 crayons with the built-in sharpener I grew up with to the washable pens and twister crayons my daughter now goes through like they are going out of fashion! I, however, was slightly more wary having previously had several bad experiences with other brands of sticker makers. I did have high hopes that the Crayola one would be better designed but unfortunately, like it?s predecessors, it jams constantly and is extremely difficult to unjam and reefed - even with proper adult supervision at all times.

My daughter is an avid drawer and absolutely mad about all things arts and craftsy and was so disappointed when I told her the sticker maker would have to go. It is for her sake that I am writing this letter in hopes of avoiding such disappointment in future.

...?

Sounds good to me.

Ok, but how do I finish?
