Does anyone's kids go to Beavers?

DD wants to go and there is space, but I don't know anyone else who's kids go. What sort of stuff do they do?

Well its a large furry amphibious rodent of the genus Castor, having sharp incisors, webbed hind feet, and a flattened tail, noted for its ability to dam streams with trees, branches, etc.

Mmmmm. Dd's tail is pointy rather than flattened, I'm worried she won't fit in.

tis good! lots of arty stuff, lots of running around, occasional overnights or trips out. varies from group to group according to leaders. be prepared to be roped in to help every once in a while, most are desperate for helpers. take her along for a couple of sessions to see if she likes it, they dont enrol them fully for a few weeks

nickytwotimes · 26/04/2007 11:34

lol!
i used to take scouts and we had cubs and beavers attached.
they did arts and crafts, nature trail stuff, games. the kids loved it and all of them came up to cubs and scouts. try thr scout web site??

She'll like the arty stuff. Good job they don't enrol them straight away, will have to save up for the uniform as it seems a bit expensive. Thanks

Beavers [snort]

Marina · 26/04/2007 11:44

Ds loves Beavers. His is an all-boy Colony (we are lucky enough to have plenty of Brownie and Rainbow provision locally as well) so I think the activities are inevitably influenced by this to some extent.
I have nothing but praise for the people who give up their free time to help run Beavers etc and they do a wide range of interesting, fun, and worthwhile thing
If yours is Church-affiliated (ie meets in a church hall) monthly Church Parade might be offered.

Most boys do love beavers. Im not getting this is this some kind of Scouts/Cubs thing?

Marina · 26/04/2007 12:07

It is Cubs for younger children Liesel. 6-8, then they move up to Cubs proper as it were.

princessmel · 26/04/2007 12:08

I think I need to put ds name down for our local beavers now. He's 4.
I bet there's a waiting list.

I must apologise then for corrupting this thread with my potty mouth
