Thanks for reading.
I know it’s always a case of how longs a piece of string asking “how long” but thought I’d ask if anyone has a vague idea of what might be a timescale in my situation.
Which is, 3 adults one of whom is disabled and 2 children.
Being evicted so we’re being placed into temporary accommodation by the council. Because we are a large family and eldest daughter is disabled they said instead of a B&B or hostel we'll be placed in a small 2 bed flat. Which I’m very grateful for but of course logistically it’s going to be tough. I’ll sleep on the sofa and the kids can share the bedrooms.
I’m just wondering if this situation could go on months or even years as we will have a roof over our heads and not technically homeless?
They are paying for the majority of my stuff to be kept in storage bar an £8 per week contribution from me which is going to be costly for them too, so I imagine that and the overcrowding might mean it’s weeks or months rather than years?
Any opinions/advice most gratefully received

I would ask council directly.. It would depend where you were in the country and what housing stock they have.

I moved into my house 8 years ago and when I started bidding got an idea where I was on the list.

Thanks starlight I’m in the south east.
I did ask my homeless officer at today’s meeting but he just always says they have no way of telling because it’s depends how long it takes for something to come up. So I have no clue at all

It could be a long time. So it's important to make sure that the temporary accommodation is suitable for your needs. If you have concerns you have a right to request a review of the suitability of your temporary accommodation. If you're anxious having that conversation get in touch with shelter who can advise and if needed advocate for you.
