Inconsiderate TNT driver

I drove down the road to my house where I could see that a TNT delivery driver had blocked the entrance to my driveway. In my car was our 13 day old daughter and I indicated to the TNT driver that I needed to park in my drive so that I could take out my newly born daughter. This was before he had unloaded the goods from his lorry. All he had to do was drive 3 feet forward to allow access. Had it not been for my daughter being in the car I would have waited.

The thing that shocked me was his response. "You'd better hope that she doesn't cry."

I was forced to take out my daughter from my car which was parked in the middle of the road and walk her into the house. The delivery driver then wanted me to reverse so that he could deliver something at another place around the corner. I refused. Rang TNT Customer Services who initially were helpful and apologetic. All I asked them was for the driver to come back and apologise but it seems he didn't have the cahonas to do so.

Am utterly disgusted by this and I don't intend to use TNT to deliver parcels for me.

Customer Services wanted the drivers line manager to give me a call and apologise but I mentioned that this was not good enough.

If the driver had only apologised and mentioned that it would have taken 5 minutes then I wouldn't have minded but it was his response that infuriated me.

What else can I do to make TNT realise that this is not to be taken lightly?

I doubt he'll be sacked. i expect whichever poor soul's job it is to receive these calls will make some sympathetic noises and move on to actual complaints with a cause. you should speak to your HV if you are finding normal activities with your baby overwhelming.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 05/12/2017 12:27

Op you are barking! Ffs how do you cope with an actual, real problem?!

gamerchick · 05/12/2017 12:29

first baby?

How can you guess? Grin

Seriously OP get a grip. Nothings going to happen to him. You were offered an apology by his manager which at this time of year is bloody good going. Your baby won’t disintegrat by a bit of cold air.

Seriously though I mean this kindly, if you have more than average anxiety about being a new parent get it nipped in the bud now.

SpongeBobMegaPants · 05/12/2017 12:47

The TNT driver is going to get a disciplinary. I don't care what you all have to say. He should have known better and now he will.

And it doesn't matter what time of year it is, does it? Result!

OP posts:
SpongeBobMegaPants · 05/12/2017 12:49

And whether it is my first baby or not, does it matter? I was brought up with manners and this country is falling to bits with attitude from people like that.

He really really won’t OP. They might tell you that to pacify you but all he’ll get is a quiet word.

It’s not a result, you escalated something extremely small because you couldn’t be bothered to wait a couple of minutes and where mildly inconvenienced.

It’s really sad and a bit cringy.

Which I’m sure will arrive promptly

THese drivers really annoy me. We have a DPS van that blocks our car park at work (dropped kerb & double yellows) so our vans & cars can't get in or out. They arecthere almost every day just at the time I leave work to do school pick up. He's not even delivering to us but other businesses round the corner.

SpongeBobMegaPants · 05/12/2017 13:04

So report me. I really don't care about your opinions. No, I really don't. LOL.

@AlexanderHamilton

At least you can understand!

If your reactions on this thread are representative of your current state of mind in real life it might be a good idea to speak to a doctor or your HV.

SpongeBobMegaPants · 05/12/2017 13:07

@stitchglitched

No need. LOL. Perhaps you need to?

Clearly not when you were rude to a delivery driver who was just doing his job, rather than wait in your car for a few minutes for him to finish up and move on.....

Pot, Kettle??

Get a grip and something better to do with your life.

gamerchick · 05/12/2017 13:13

Ah man you could have got passed page 2. Burn out early Sad

stitchglitched · 05/12/2017 13:14

Well I'm not the one in charge of a newborn baby whilst being paranoid, vindictive, aggressive (telling posters to go sit on dildos, really?) and blowing minor inconveniences massively out of proportion.

SpongeBobMegaPants · 05/12/2017 13:21

Awww wow so many nice comments in here. Glad to have made it to page 2. Anyway, I have better things into do in life than reading other's post about how minor this is. I do have manners but I thought if I make those vindictive comments it will generate a reaction. And it certainly has! See you don't like it as much as I didn't like the TNT drivers attitude.

OP posts:
HouseOfGoldandBones · 05/12/2017 13:25

OP, I absolutely understand that you were inconvenienced by the driver.

However, the world doesn't revolve around you & your DC, although at 13 days old, it is very easy to get into this mindframe.

You phoned TNT, they have apologised (or would have it you had given them the chance), what else do you, genuinely, think they should do?

The driver isn't going to come back to apologise to you, he has other deliveries to do. And do you even want an apology from him? As PP's have said, it won't be, in the least, genuine, which will just piss you off even more. to be fair the apology from the Manager won't be genuine either

When you have a young DC, you will have to learn to pick your battles, this isn't one you should be picking.

I know it's difficult to function the way you normally would when you're sleep deprived & understandably anxious, but you may want to speak to your HV because your reactions are not "normal"

CocaColaTruck · 05/12/2017 13:31

I was brought up with manners.

From the evidence here that clearly isn't true.

SpongeBobMegaPants · 05/12/2017 13:46

And on and on and on and Ariston...

I read this thread on my lunch break at work on my work computer but didn't have a chance to post.
I don't post often but feel strangely compelled to do so......

OP I sincerely hope that you have calmed down now and don't feel so aggrieved by a twatty delivery driver (I agree that they do exist, we've all encountered them, although our TNT driver Paul is the bees knees)

Or have you fashioned a Voodoo doll wearing a TNT orange high-vis tabard and are relentlessly stabbing it?

I hope the former applies.
Tbh you'd have got more sympathetic posts although maybe not if you'd said Yodel not TNT
Let it go.......
