Paint stains on clothes

My dd wore her new (only bought the previous day) playgroup sweatshirt and managed to get black paint all over it. I suppose I should have soaked it as soon as we got home but I didn't and now it is still covered in black stains even though it has been washed once. Has anyone got any suggestions?

I think you may now be too late but the only thing that seems to get this paint out (and black seems to be the worst colour) is soak it in cold water and hand wash the stains with soap before washing it in the machine.
I am assuming here that all playgroup/school paint is the same stuff!!
May be worth giving this a try even though you have already washed the sweatshirt

Get a Dylon stain remover stick (or a Stain Devil) from the hardware store - they make different ones for different kinds of stains and are brilliant. I used one recently to get red nail varnish off a cream duvet cover and it worked!!!

In the end I smothered the stains with washing up liquid, soaked, scrubbed etc and the ones down the front have faded quite a lot but those on the cuffs are still bad. I put a piece in the comments book at playgroup asking them to refrain from using black paint or get better overalls and they gave me a new sweatshirt free, though I feel bad about this because I didn't really want one, I use the optional uniform sweatshirts because I expect DD to get paint and glue on her clothes. At least I have another spare one now for when she goes 5 days a week in September.
