schedule 1 advice- any housing law experts?

have rang the housing corporatin and got their advice, have had a look at schedule one by "googling" but didnt understand it as its in law speak.

basically my husband has been working for a charity doing community development. the charity was funding by the housing organisation i work for - specifically for com dev work to be done on partic estate where my hubby was employed as com dev worker 3 years ago.

i was employed by my housing assoc (HA) a year after dh was in post. all ha knew hubby worked for organisation (charity) that was being funded by the HA i work for.

ths goes on for three years - contract ends this october with promises verbally at every meeting that funding will continue even though the aforementioned umberella charity is no longer doing com development. so community local agencies and some small funders havecome together to keep the com dev project going - where my husband will be working. if funding was secured it would still be a not for profit voluntary organisation.

we get back off holiday last week to be both called from out seperate jobs into a meeting to be told the project will no longer be funding by the HA i work for cos of schedule 1 conflict of interest.

even the director who was telling us this shrugged her shoulders when asked what the diference between the previous 3 years funding and future funding. nothing will change there will still be a board of trustees to make the financial and strategic decisions - my huby may decide to go off and get another job in a couple of years - then the board would have to recruit - the point being hubby is seperate from the project wich stands on its own - he just works for it - he is not the project.

now he has 8 weeks to find another job or 30K of funding to cover wages and activities - not just his wages to feed his 3 kids but anothe part time worker who also has 2 kids.

i happen to know cos i work in the organisation that we have over commited and fucked up our accounts- i suspect this is the real reason- and not schedule 1.

but i dont think its fair to blame it on conflict o interest if this is not the case

hope you understand this post

any advice?

ta

Could you contact the Housing Corporation?(I think that's what they're called)It's a sort of umbrella org that oversees housing issues.
Think I'd be tempted to use another name for any enquiries, iyswIm

Sorry didn't take in the first line of your postBut did you ring the HC and ask about the legal bit,or did you ask about the wider issue of the accounting Fu?Maybe your HA needs a look into by the Audit Commission?

Tortington · 20/07/2004 11:28

i asked them about the legalities ( the HC )

my boss actually said to me that if i took it any further against the chief execs decision that the chief exec would number my cards and get me out of a job one way or another cos he has done it before and boss continued to say " you dont need two of you out of a job do you?"

think that was a polite way to tell me to leave it the fuck alone!

I think I'd be even more inclined to involve the Audit Commission-they're treating you appallingly imo.
Our HA is being 'dealt' with by the AC and heads will be rolling!,us tenants are really out for blood now, most of us having put up with crappy/useless services for too long!
