because I swear I don't ..

I'm not talking nights out or meeting a new person for the first time

but honestly truly, would you really notice what a friend was wearing?

Lact8, ballet shoes are monstrously unflattering to the thick of ankle or chunky of calf.

I look abombinable in them so the one pair I have are strictly Trousers Only, and it's wedges all the way with skirts.

Lact8 · 13/04/2007 12:14

Mrs Badger I think I'm more of a thin ankled thick thighed sort of a person

I used to really love heels but I'm about 5'10" and the floor is too far away when I'm wearing them and have to spend all day bending down with the DC

MrsBadger · 13/04/2007 12:14

at thin ankles

Gobbledigook · 13/04/2007 15:56

Twig - I would deffo notice crap shoes. Sorry!

Hmm, I'm not sure if I'm judgemental about it. I hope not. I would think 'did they look in a mirror?' if they look seriously shit though.

MerryMarigold · 13/04/2007 15:57

I do because I always think: she looks fab. I don't really make any effort, but I tend to appreciate other people's even when it is minimal.

MerryMarigold · 13/04/2007 16:01

You can't wear ballet shoes with thin ankles and narrow feet - they slop off. i can't really wear any shoes without a strap. ahhhhhhhhh the price of narrow feet with high insteps!

fizzbuzz · 13/04/2007 17:05

I always notice every single thing people are wearing AND can remember what people were wearing years ago, say at a party or on holiday.

Can also remember what I was wearing when little at any given event.

Do have a degree in fashion which may be why! But also people have different sorts of memory types, so a visual memory type would remember things like that quite easily.

pointydog · 13/04/2007 17:20

not at all, unless I really like it. Pretty unobservant

I only care about me me me

Blu · 13/04/2007 17:25

Sometimes, in a half-hearted sort of way, and I do if something catches my eye and I think it, or somethng like it, would suit me. But mostly I don't consciously notice, and I really hope most people I meet / socialise with don't either - I always wear the same things. Not similiar - the exact same thngs. I have one pair of jeans and one warm jumper.

Twiglett - you are so bohemian.

WideWebWitch · 13/04/2007 17:27

I don't really either unless it's outrageous, I'm just not that interested in clothes really.

princesscc · 13/04/2007 17:36

I have a friend who notices far too much IMO. The other week she commented on a ring I was wearing! It isn't a fashion ring of many colours or a big flashy ring - just a gold band really. I just thought it was odd, that she looked at me that closely to notice that I had a different ring on. She also notices things on parents at the school gate that I wouldn't notice in a million years! Like others have said, if my friends are wearing something particularly nice, I would comment, but otherwise probably not. I actually feel uneasy about people commenting on me. I'm perfectly happy with the way I look and frankly couldn't give a stuff what anyone else wears.

handlemecarefully · 13/04/2007 17:38

Seldom during 'the day' - but yes if we are on an evening out

OrvilleRedenbacher · 13/04/2007 17:38

yes all the tiem

foxinsocks · 13/04/2007 17:39

no, not at all.

2shoes · 13/04/2007 17:42

i did yesterday........but only as it was really warm and she was wearing a very thick winter jumper

Nightynight · 13/04/2007 18:19

yes, every time.

neighbour called in 2 days ago - she was wearing purple sweater and jeans

met a friend around 6 weeks ago - stone coloured mac.

etc.

filthymindedvixen · 13/04/2007 18:22

yes I'm afraid I nearly always do notice - I have one friend who is virtually colour blind and the clashes never fail to amuse me.
I have another friend whose style I love so I always watch her for ideas. Another friend who always looks 'right' for every occasion and a couple of friends who make me feel like a style goddess in comparison
