Dh is considering a move to a job in London, I'd like to live in a large village/small town with a good school, good doctors/maternity facilities and generally a good sense of community (I'm SAHM and don't want to be completely isolated!) We need to be a maximum of 30-40 mins train ride from London Bridge, does anyone have any recommendations for a good area?

I guess you don't want to end up next to Maxine Carr.

Kingston upon thames (south west London) has got the whole package, great schools, thousands of acres of public parkland, riverside, great shopping, community, oafs for kids to do etc. Half hour from Waterloo then short tube ride to London Bridge. Can't recommend it enough. We've been here 3 years and are very happy we moved here. Houses are getting a bit expensive though because everyone's discovering how fab it is.

Haywards Heath.
Horsham.

Blackheath is a posh and expensive part of London. Lovely, but not a small town or village.

That should have read loads for kids to do, not oafs. Duh.
