I need to earn a proper living,up till now I've done lots of 'odds and sods',ie.been a window dresser, mural painter/paint effects,char,childminder,dressmaker-I've been out of 'proper' work for a v. long time and I don't know what I could be suited for and not a clue what to try and train for.Any suggestions would be welcomed!

I live near Bromley in Kent,so yes there are two that are local-Croydon and Ravensbourne.I'd really like to try chalks,I think I have a couple of boxes somewhere. Are they difficult to use?

Do try the china painting-it's not expensive and easily put down if you have to attend to kiddies etc.

you must have a wll ventilated kitchen to 'fire' stuff in by the way.I have no windows in mine so it made things a bit difficult,I had to use friends cooker.

they're not and you can do so many effects with them, ideal for portraits,i use my fingers to blend the colours so it is messy but lots of fun,the paper is not cheap tho,but i love the fact that you can use so many different colour papers

I've never had any formal training/teaching just 'held my nose and jumped'! so don't let anything stop you trying new stuff.

that is true, someone told me on the other thread to do it with books but i do need motivation plus is a great way of meeting likeminded people, the portrait and figure painting course was full of pensioners but they were such a great bunch,we went to exhibitions etc, wich i wouldn't have done otherwise
