Hello,

I’m doing some research about premonitions/mediumship and psychic ability ie whether there is any evidence it exists or not. I am curious if anyone has been to see a psychic? And if so were they able to give validations and/or got predictions right? Any recommendations for a good psychics (if any!) would be fab! It might be that you yourself believe you are psychic.
However you might think it’s all rubbish. I am looking for those who have visited a psychic before making judgment on this topic.
Thanks 

My 'visions' have now been explained to me as I said upthread.

TriskelArts - Yes, I may have posted on the wrong area but forgive me it was done in good faith and I am new to this so don't know my way around. Lets all help each other.

Your comment 'People were assuming you were embarking on some actual ill-considered research project'.... please don't be derogatory. The irony is these 'ill-considered projects' actually help prove or disprove mediumship, psychic stuff! How arrogant of you to say this when many scientist have set out to disprove these things and probably been successful in their research. Everything should be researched! otherwise where would we get?! no where. It's rather ignorant to say that don't you think?

Hopefully now my intentions are clear and not to offend anyone. As I've now made it clear what I would like to discuss it hopefully shouldn't cause confusion or annoyance with anyone.

As I said I am looking for like minded people, If you think this is a joke or really dislike it then I respect your opinion but perhaps this isn't the forum you need to worry yourself with.

Fair enough. I was just going by your original post. Fine if you've changed your parameters.

"I’m doing some research about premonitions/mediumship and psychic ability ie whether there is any evidence it exists or not."

"Research" sounds a strange word to use though.......

YY, Talking. And there have been a significant number of posters on Mn describing frightening events which were clearly sleep paralysis, which was pointed out on various threads. Some posters were clearly relieved to have their 'visions' explained non-supernaturally, while others were surprisingly resistant to their being a non-supernatural explanation.

Saw that episode of derren brown where he wrote a "tailored " personality report for lots of random people around the world and they all were gobsmacked at how accurate it was saying it was 90% accurate to them and then told they all had the exact same report. He said cold reading is a method that's been around for ages.

Thanks Dustbunny1900,

I hoped that this post would be for like minded people. I didn't realize there would be so many people who cared so much about judging others.
I hope people would share their experiences but wasn't expecting to feel so uncomfortable or expect a backlash!

So one of my first premonitions came on the day before the 7/7 bombings. My dream was so vivid. I was standing on a tube platform and on the opposite platform a man was standing there ready to shoot people , it was this horrible overwhelming feeling I was going to die, I remember seeing everyone screaming and crushing each other as they tried to escape the tube. I don't actually know the details of 7/7 and you could say this wasn't true of the events or it was a coincidence. However it scared me so much I decided not to go on my trip to London I was due to go on that day ie 7/7 but i stayed in wales. I told my brother not to go but he did and he nearly got killed.
it's never left me. This is just one incident.
Others haven't been dreams but things I've seen like a film and then they happen.

TriskelArts I have sleep paralysis, lots of people report it as a ghost or devil but it isn't. This can be explained if you are aware it's a condition.

I'd love to hear about your experiences Charlie.
Have you tried to develop your ability?
Many years ago I used to be interested in the Tarot ,I used to think of it as a mediation rather than card reading. The cards could have been anything they were just a focus.
More recently I've been following a youtuber Steve Huff , he works with a spirit box to get EVPs. Things took a bit of a turn recently and he has stopped for now but he was getting incredible results.
Are you interested in scrying?
That's my latest obsession.
I nearly didn't post but then I thought why shouldn't I?
There are plenty of like minded people Charlie and it's an interesting discussion.

I consider myself an "open-minded skeptic" (contradiction in terms, but oh well).

I'm a perfectly articulate, intelligent, grounded person not given to flights of fancy. Yet I have experienced some pretty weird shit I must admit. I'm a bit reluctant to share much detail but like you I have had vivid premonitions and bizarre clairvoyant dreams. I have put most of that down to medication - it feels real and different to to normal dreaming, but that's the only scientific explanation, that my brain is fucking with me. Smile

I have had a private reading and been to a small clairvoyance evening - not of my own volition, truthfully, but because my very lovely friend lost a child (and rightly or wrongly, takes a lot of comfort from such readings) and I agreed to accompany her.

I tried to be open minded with the reading, and it was sort of fascinating. She came up with information that I simply can't fathom she could have got from basic research on my name or family, and which was rather too specific for her to have been cold-reading. Sure, throw enough out there and she'll get a hit or two, but she was very succinct and specific, not vague at all. I checked something afterwards and she was correct, I actually hadn't known for sure but my mother confirmed it.

The evening was more vague and I was very much more skeptical about the other readings I observed from an objective perspective.

I am not a complete non-believer, I prefer the notion that there is something in it - I figure that I partly believe because I choose to, not because it can't be proven to be fake.

The sensible scientific part of me says it's all bollocks though.
