I need someone to give me some tips on how to sell something on ebay.

How do I know what to type (I am selling a take that ticket) and where do I download a picture of them, where do I write in all my spiel? I dont know how to put in a minimum price or anything

Oh I'm dreading this, any help really would be greatly appreciated

I tend to have a look to see if someone is selling something the same and copy most of what they have written, changing it to fit mine.
If you go to sell on e-bay it takes you through what to do step by step. Go on, be brave, it's not that hard I promise.

mosschops30 · 25/03/2007 14:29

great thanks, so I can copy whatever other people have written (well you know what i mean, within reason)

how can I get a pic next to my sale?

Yes, I generally do. Usually one that has a few bids on it.

When you get to the Create you listing bit, you can add a picture which you have saved on your computer. If you have a pop-up blocker, make sure you hold down CTRL when you click on add pictures as it opens in a seperate window.

If it's a ticket do you need a picture?

Pannacotta · 25/03/2007 14:53

You do need to be careful about copying text from other listings, as it is actually against ebay rules. If the seller you copy from sees your listing they can refer it to ebay and it can be removed/cancelled.
It's not v nice for sellers to spend ages creating a listing then someone (usually someone new to ebay) comes along and copies it.
Fine to use other examples as a guide but you should really write the listing and terms in your own words.
Best way to work out how to do a description is to go to Advanced Search on ebay and search for the same thing you are hoping to sell and tick the completed listings box, so it will bring up details of what has sold and for how much.
I do this when I sell things and it helps you work out start price etc.
HTH...

Really
Oops, I never knew that. Ignore my advice completely.
Sorry.

mosschops30 · 25/03/2007 15:10

well I know my starting price which is the face value of the ticket £50.

I dont want to write anything fancy just that they are the better priced tickets, i will forward my email confirmation on payment, will send ticket as soon as they are delivered to me and that I have a genuine reason for sale

Don't know anything about selling tickets on ebay but you will be charged high fees if your start price is £50.
Also you might attract more attention if you start the bidding lower, though of course it needs to be the minimum you would be happy to make...
When I was new to ebay I found some good info on how best to sell on one of the community or discussion boards. Don't remember which one sorry but it was helpful and worth searching for.
One thing to think about is when you start the listing and as a result when it ends.
Thurs evening is a good time to start (10 day listing), that way you get 2 weekends worth of listing and end on Sunday night - meant to be the best times to finish auctions.
I always try and list my things to end around 8 ish on Sundays.

mosschops30 · 25/03/2007 16:48

so what will the fees be, surely they cant be that bad there are people selling things on there for hundreds of pounds, mine is only £50

anyone have any idea what I will be charged?

Do you have any feedback already? If you don't as it is a high price item you may find it difficult getting a buyer. Maybe a friend could do this one for you so that you can build up some positive feedback?

mosschops30 · 25/03/2007 18:21

no i dont have any feedback this is the first sale.

can anyone give me an idea of how much it will cost

OP posts:
GandWJ · 25/03/2007 19:42

Have a look at fees here
Looks like £1.50 for fee for putting a £50 start on it plus another £3.00 ish final value fee (dependent on what the tickets sell for) plus additional little costs on how you want your listing to look, eg, additional pictures, decorative borders, additional categories.

Being a new seller will probably limit interest in the tickets so you would be better doing as someone else said and find someone who has an e-bay rating to help you.

Pannacotta · 25/03/2007 19:42

If you look at the link I posted you can work it out.
