any ideas - don't really 'need' anything, but would like to get something as a token, and something a bit different. I can't think anymore....

Budget?

I've just bought some Feng Shui candles for a neighbour who is moving. You can 'assess' the house and choose the correct candle to burn to give it good luck/romance etc.. Can you believe they were from Asda and were really VERY cheap.

islandgirl · 12/07/2004 23:33

Tinker - yes budget would be good - no more than £40.00.

God, you're a bit more upmarket than me then!!

islandgirl · 12/07/2004 23:43

they are very good friends ( I was about to say only and realized we did have more!!), and just gave our ds2 the most fantastic christening present.

A fishing fly tied with strands from ds2's hair all in a presentation box for when he can go fishing....how fab is that....

Forget the candles then - crap idea under the circumstances....

poppyseed - on the contrary, I have a friend you I'm seeing tomorrow (who is 36 weeks pregnant with her first and I am so excited!), who would love that when she moves.

you'll struggle to sell £40 but a rose bush would be nice. You could spend £40 on a bay tree, and more

try the website www.gluttonousgardener.com as they do fab plants and foodie presents and deliver to the door. Not sure of cost but my parents were delighted when I sent them something.

Jasmine, plant of good friendships.

some expensive soap from L'occitane.....was given a bottle when our kitchen was finished and it's heavenly!! About £20 for 500ml size I think

tamum · 13/07/2004 16:16

Gluttonous Gardener is fab, I agree- dh once got an olive tree plant and a bottle of really good olive oil in a lovely wooden box from there.

the website I was talking about is www.glut.com not the other one I said before. Try it as it is excellent and the packaging is great.

bottle of vintage port

A rowan tree! Supposed to bring good luck and ward off evil. All old houses in Scotland had one planted in their garden.
